Need Help Persuasive Techniques For English Essay Due Tomorrow

BSturdy, this is someone whose post read in a very cavalier fashion, who basically said "i will be back at 7 to see what you have come up with for 2/3 of my assignment." not someone who even wanted to discuss said assignment. not someone who sounded at all participatory in his homework.

maybe someone was being amusing him/herself however; that's always possible, too.

just read your post, Basil. what one can do with 4 little paragraphs! you know about the personal poetry section, right? you can submit stories there too.

Well one would certainly think that if he had a genuine love of literature, he wouldn't be around here demanding (yes, as amuse points out, demanding) others do his homework. I'm also pretty confident that both his uninterested parents and his overworked teacher are quite happy that a bunch of strangers aren't doing his work for him.

I think we'd all agree that the sophistication of one of these posts relative to the other makes a much more powerful statement about who is being puerile.

BSturdy, I think I owe you an apology. Once I had the idea of casting this guy ("eatmorchikin") as a piteous victim of circumstance in his own little tale of woe, I just had to go with it. In doing so, however, I think that you (as the person who had stuck up for him) received some undeserved condescension as well: as a regular posting member of this forum, you don't deserve that. I'm sorry.

I do think, though, that this guy's post did deserve to be mocked--and I'll be happy to provide my reasoning if anyone wants to hear it. You and I may have a fundamental disagreement about this, but there's nothing wrong that.

And yeah, I guess it was pretty juvenile . . .

do you know, den is the only other person (i think) to use the word "puerile" in a post.

Still, can you blame the poor kid, he is probably lacking in english skills, if his nick is anything to go by, so in desperation he turns to "the Literature Network" thinking it will be full of bookworms with nothing better to do with their time then assist helpless teens having trouble with their english homework.

Honestly i have a little trouble with Persuasive techniques as well. I'm in yr 12 and i still dont find it easy to analyse an article to find rhetorical questions or expert opinions. But i do need help as well in trying to figure out how to go about finding them. So if anyone is actually kind enough to lend a hand in knowledge, well uh... thanks.

I agree with Mono. An essay like this will not be good, if done as a straight-forward essay. I think that humor and indirection are what you need. You might also want to use historical fact.
