Anything BUT tinkerbell!
yeah! Pixie sounds good!:D
i agree
Niamh, I think of two things when I see your name and both are due to your avatar and are LOTR related...and that last part shouldn't surprise anyone ...anyway, I think of Ents because of the tree like appearance of your fairy and I think Avari, which is another name for the dark elves. Not dark as in evil, but dark because they've never seen the light of the Trees...long story that I won't go into but the dark elves were, for the most part, woodland dwelling people, hence the connection to your avatar.
I forgot....I know its not shorter, but every now and then I twist people I likes name just a bit....papayhed = papayanoggin, shalot = shalaling-a-ding-a-ling, Lote-tree = Lote-shrub = Lote-twig...
These are affections. I hope they don't irritate...sometimes people don't read them right, and misconstrue. This hearkens back to my days in the military when I was known as Dr. B-Mental. I was in the infantry, and it was my personally given and platoon/company accepted position as name maker...I came up with the nickname for the people. Example: Doug Doomba = 2D; and the next guy with a similar name....Dan Denning = 3D or Dazzling Dan. Anyways, guys that got picked on didn't get picked on when they had a nickname from me....cuz the nickname was a warning...this one is a good Mother Hummer...this one gets the cowbell, whatever....It was a way of bringing diverse people together, and getting along.
Most people don't call me anything, but that's probably my own fault, since I haven't been writing here that often lately :p
I usually don't shorten anyone's names, though I haven't thought about the reason before. Maybe it's because you can never know whether they like it or not, so writing the whole name is always a "safe" option.
Everyone is Bob.
I do Nims...:D but have to admit thats because I spent the lats year and so trying to figure out how to prononce your name... I though Nia-mh sounded too arbic:rolleyes:
And cant you rember the stink I kicked up when Koa first started calling me Nightie? but you get used to it and I kinda like it alot now... have to admit Im even beginig to think of myself as Night or nightie Im sure if an RL person called me that Id probably answer ..
plus I have no room to complain Im always renamimng people..so I can spell thier names :D
and boB is everyone? :D
It's very confusing when everyone is called the same. I saw this weird Finnish movie at school, and in it everyone was called Frank (that's not even a Finnish name). It was a black-and-white film with about ten Franks, so I never really knew who was who
