I have a friend who has an irrational fear of dogs. She was never attacked herself, but when she was younger she saw her younger sister being knocked over (playfully), by a small dog. Since then, she refuses to go into any house with a dog, and she gave up doing cross country at school, because she was scared of the possibility of bumping into a dog.
I can understand dog phobias if you were physically mauled by one when you were younger, or if you're just unused to them, but otherwise, I don't know how it's possible. Especially small dogs. How can you be scared of a terrier?
I don't know. I just don't like them at all and I am afraid of all Dogs.
KCF, Thanks for taking the time to give me the run-down on modern computerese. I have never been remotely passable in this area, and always lost even DonkeyKong.
You are welcome, I hope it helped, I would like to see your pics.Quote:

Personally, even though I grew up on a farm, I was always afraid of the pigs. Piglets are cute and all, but full grown pigs are scary. They are almost as smart as dogs, and they can be aggressive and attack.

This is Jessie, my dog. I call her Sweetie. She's getting old and has arthritis, but we've had her since she was a puppie. She is the most mellow dog I have ever encountered. However, she has a very active tail. Tie a hatchet to it, and it would chop down a forest.

This is Precious, my aptly named cat. One of my favorite things in the world is to watch movies with her on my lap. She's stuck up and whiny (typical cat) but I love her all the more for it.
Jessie and Precious are good pals. They sleep in the same bed and often go hunting together. My cat will go out and find a gofer hole, sit next to it, and wait for Jessie to come and dig it up.

Hey, fool on the hill. When you use the code at photobucket, select the bottom one that has the [IMG] brackets on it.
*edit* Oh, okay, I see you got it working...cute kittycat! :) Is that a Yellow Lab?

Average lifespan of dogs: 10-12 years
Average lifetime of the toys of my dog: One day
Now you can calculate the number of toys my dog will likely destroy in his lifetime
I can't leave out the rest of the family..

Stanley is a Maine Coon cat, and they tend to be fairly large. He is 23 inches long from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail, and weighs 26 pounds. Stan is tons o' fun! ;)

Ah, Sweet Jane is a nice name. Like the Velvet Underground song of the same name. :)
Thanks, Bysshe. You got the inspiration for the name exactly right. :)Quote:

I love calicos! I had one growing up and we were on the lookout for one when the 'peeing thing' started with our other cats and I decided I'd had enough of cats for awhile but seeing a calico still makes me heart skip a beat.
The only type of dog that bothers me are black labs and that definately comes from a childhood trauma. We had a beagle when I was growing up and I saw it get mauled by a black lab when I was really young, like 4 or 5 and it was the scariest thing to watch two dogs fight so viciously...actually, it was just the black lab that was vicious, Mashooka was completely overpowered and there was really nothing anyone could do about it because it was too dangerous to get involved, they had sticks and the black lab's owner was yelling at it but all we could really do is wait until it was over and hope Mashooka wasn't dead. He wasn't dead but he was about as close as you can get, I remember his eyeball was almost out of it's socket. :( It was a very traumatic thing for a little kid and to this day, black lab's scare the heck out of me.
You can see a picture of him in my profile, He's a mix between a German shepard and a Labrador Retreiver.
Heh, got him a new toy today, lasted a whole five minutes, it's a good thing some toys are more durable and last more than a few days. Not that I get him a new toy everytime he's wrecked one. :) He's getting old though, and his teeth are not as sharp as they used to be, which means toys generally last a little longer, he still acts like he is a puppy, and his energy is amazing for his age, he's almost 10.
Toys have been outlawed here for awhile, along with any kind of chewy hide things because Smeagol has still not learned to share. He's accepted Dobby with open...paws(?), they play together, sleep together even eat from the same dish but if there's a toy around or a chew bone or pig's ear, Smeagol gets so nasty, he'll steal Dobby's and then when Dobby tries to get it back, he snarls and snaps so until he learns some manners, no toys. :p
