I kinda believe, I had a someone do a chart for me and it seemed to be on the money. Like VBM said it looked at a lot more than just my zodiac sign. It was very interesting.

I just spent three months in the eastern Mexican jungle and Cozumel isle. The Mayan calender is based upon a 28 day, thirteen moon cycle, spanning a 52 year time period before beginning over again. While astrological signs tied to a gregarian calander are relatively simple in that most people by the age of ten have a fair idea of their 'sign', the Mayan's designated 'signs' include the year you are born, four colours associated with your sign, and a breakdown into a passle of individual lesser (meaning more fragmented and personalized) 'signs'. VERRRRRRYYYYYY interesting. But magical, meaningful, relative to individual lives? Probably not. BUT.... I am a believer in a confluence of the concrete and spiritual worlds. You see what you want to see, believe your own reality. Reality can be created by the mind, but this does not make it less real, even if the reality is set as a table for one...................
oh baddad!!! welcome back.
missed you terribly
*hugs*
and ps: reality...fantasy...who knew where they would meet?
Hi, baddad! I remember you. You were here for like a week after I joined. How do you like the new digs around here?
This is just based on what I have observed about sun signs (zodiac) over the years: It's not about how you act--for example, as a cancer I'm supposed to be a stubborn homebody--but it's really about who you're compatible with. For example, I've always hit it off right away with other cancers and pices. I become friends with them and find out their sign later, and it just amazes me how this is true. It's about compatability, not personality...If you want to know more about your personality, take the meyers-briggs test. According to it, there are only 16 personality types in the world. NEwspaper horoscopes arn't accurate by any means in my opinion.
I'd appreciate replies to this.
and where is this test to be found?
as for replies, well I'm not sure, I just read in magazines that the sing x gets one well with the sing y and sometimes I've found it true, but then it doesnt seem to me to be always such a sure 'rule'...
I'm a Taurean in the West & a Tiger with the element of Fire in the Far-East. I've studied extensively, books about how Taureans are supposed to be & books on how Tigers are supposed to be & i've found that i'm more like a Tiger; Ie, that Chinese astrology is far more accurate, for me at least.
I used to be addicted to reading all my horoscopes that I could get my hands on every day, but now that i'm happy in my life i'd rather not read them, because I do believe in them & i'm a terrible worrier, I suffer from an anxiety disorder, and even a bad horoscope will have me terrified if it's bad. Even if it's vague but seemingly bad it'd totally upset me. I read a horoscope for 'the coming year' back in January & i've been petrified of something it's said ever since. I wont relax until Autumn :(
The Meiers-Brigg's test? I once took that, and found it very interesting! At the end of the psychological test, you receive four letters, which corresponds to personality, behavior, and cognition, but I probably should not inform you of exactly what they mean to get accurate, un-biased test results, if you take it. I thought I posted here once, but the site posted calls it by a lesser-known name, the Jung-Enneagram test.Quote:

As amuse mentioned, the reading of actual astrology charts seem greatly mathematical, somewhat reliable, and interesting, but my skepticism cannot deliver a great amount of merit without really tossing something amazing at me.
The phenomena of the astronomy-astrology connection has interested me greatly in past years, particularly of the effects of moon patterns on human behavior and physiology (I probably cannot go into great detail without receiving some strange looks), proven by credible and empirical science.

Just a thought: how ironic, after commenting on a thread devoted to Aleister Crowley (who made a popular tarot deck), that this thread should suddenly appear. :p
I found another personality test. When you finish the test I found the two following links more accurate then just the 4 letters. No idea if you get those for different results or how many are there going to be though.
*edit*
btw, I'm Sagittarius :p
*edit no2*
the test is 72 questions in case you wondered how long it is :D
I'm also very skeptical of Ouija and palmistry (I dismiss newspaper horoscopes), but there is a part of me that won't completely reject them. It's more like, why is it completely logical to reject sun sign theory and palmistry if they could hold some truth or if the only reason to reject them is because they are not popularly accepted. How many people, relative to catholic scholars, have actually studied sun signs. I'm not talking about psychics, but serious research and develoment? Not many, atleast, not many that people would find credible.
Has anyone else noticed a correlation between those they like and sun signs?
This one looks very, very similar to the one I posted also, but with different ways to answer a question; the answers following the link I posted went "disagree strongly - disagree - indifferent - agree - strongly agree," and the one you posted, Jay, went "yes - no." The questions seemed the same, my questionnaire having, I think, 108 questions, yours 72, but they look almost precisely the same. I took both and received the same results, so, for the sake of time and fewer questions, your link may appear more convenient. Thanks, Jay! ;)Quote:

Ah, so I took it in that thread... I also took the one that Jay mentioned, it does seem quite accurate but a lot ofquestions seem to be similar to each other...Quote:

You also have to wonder with all the books out there where the information on your sun sign is coming from. I mean, it had to have started somewhere and evolved greatly, and with the lack of people studying and validating conclusions about them, whose to say what traits are right? You have your basics though, for example: cancers, i have read, are consistently described as caring, homeloving, and jealous. That's all though, go any more in depth and you get a thousand different answers. We cant just blindly trust all these "descriptions" and instantly become disbelievers because of them.
