If you want my opinion, for historical reasons they won't be forgotten. They are described in so many ancient texts. The question is if we can take this vote seriously. I voted by the way. It's not a bad idea :)
I voted too but... some of them just dont have the myth and mystery about them that the collossus or babylon have...
I agree. But who knows..maybe in many many years, the future generations may perhaps thing the same about them, as we do about the old ones. In most cases the distance of time creates mystery by itself.
yes very true...Modern masterpieces make tomorrows mysteries....
I think these are going to be called the 7 wonders of the modern world.
But then why was Stonehenge on the list?
Here's a short explanation:

Quote:
The commonly known Seven Ancient Wonders of the World were all man-made monuments, selected by Philon of Byzantium in 200 B.C. Today, only the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt remain.
His selection of wonders was essentially a travel guide for fellow Athenians, and the stunning sites were all located around the Mediterranean basin, the then-known world.
The monuments he chose, to be remembered in perpetuity, were:
The Lighthouse of Alexandria
The Temple of Artemis
The Statue of Zeus
The Colossus of Rhodes
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
The Pyramids of Egypt
All had been built between 2,500 B.C. and 200 B.C.
Now, just as Pierre de Coubertin revived the Olympic Games in 1896 with his modern version of the competition, New7Wonders founder Bernard Weber is seeking to revive the concept of the 7 Wonders of the World with this ambitious global campaign, the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The key difference is that, this time around, they will not be chosen by one man, but rather by millions of people all over the world.
The new wonders that are selected will be the people’s choices, and they will be drawn from the earliest time that humankind walked upon the earth up through the year 2000.
It is, therefore, possible that the only survivor of the original 7 Wonders of the World, the Pyramids at Giza, could be chosen for a second time, taking them well into a third millenium of fame!
so yes its not acase of them being the new 7 woners they will be THE seven wonders... and the old ones will have become the Ancient seven wonders of the world....now thats sad..and WHY cant the Pyramids be on that list  Theyve lasted and have fasinated people for thousands of years....
:D
In retrospect I should have included the pyramids in my vote. I don't know what I would have dropped out. Sorry Night.
but they didnt give the option for the pyramids. it was like the were excmept from the poll. So we could vote for them. They really should be included though.
Cheers Papaya... i hadnt realise the list had been comprised so long ago!
A few years ago, some people in China proposed that in order to protect it. the Great Wall should be covered with tiles. If they had done this, I think, the Great Wall would be surely one of the NEW 7 wonders.
..:).
Well, ignore mine...I thought I was special...:(
Well I voted for Chichen Itza, Hagia Sophia, Christ the Redeemer, Taj Mahal, Statue of Liberty (in honor of my brother), Petra, Colosseum...yep.
