The tropical scenery, climate and underwater ocean realm are paradaisical, but like every place, Hawaii has social problems. Poverty, hard drugs, ethnic friction to name a few. I wish I could have lived in the islands before the advent of mass tourism in the early 1960s. According to old timers, Hawaii was a more enjoyable place with a much slower pace when they were kids. Also, the spirit of aloha was strong back then. It's rare today.Quote:

The "civilization" brings its problems. I used to live in a beautiful small town near the coast, the beach is far like 15 or 20 minutes by car. In those days going to the beach was a party for us (my brothers, friends and I) the shore and the water were clean. Then some people had the great ideas to attract tourism and started to build hotels, restaurants and the peaceful beach was gone.Quote:

I have some friends living there, and they told me that they have a plan along with government to clean the beach. I hope that that works.
