yes hello I am back. I really need to catch up.
Hello, I am new to this site, the forum part anyway, though I am glad I have joined for literature is my first passion and I have been studying it for years (part-time). Others interests include listening to music, drinking beer and sleeping.
Anyway, I hope that I can learn a few things as well as pass a few things on, I have already come across a couple of must read books having just read a few threads. This thing could be dangerous!
Hey!
After having the forum in my bookmarks bar, I've finally decided to join!
I'm a Lit undergrad student, and I'm hoping that I'll get plenty of opportunity to discuss books and critics that I'm studying.
The forum looks active, and the large majority of the discussions have substance, so I'm looking forward to posting!
 WELCOME TO LITNET!
Hello everyone, my name is Zach. I am 25 years old and I live in Northwest Florida . I have been married for three years to my amazing wife Savannah, and eight months ago (12/11/07) she gave birth to our first child, Ethan.
I love to read and am an aspiring author. I also enjoy playing and listening to music, watching good TV shows and movies, and playing video games.
I was homeschooled using a Christian Curriculum. Don't get me wrong, I very much prefered it to public schools and I believe I'm better and smarter for being homeschooled, but the literature we were given to read was Christian in theme and therefore very dull and awful to read. I'm now in the process now of catching up the classics that I feel I missed. Does anyone have a list of important books that I could pick up? Or possibly any recommendations of lesser known works? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I just found this site because I was trying to look up something from Orwell's 1984. I do indeed believe that a lot of what Orwell predicted is happening in America today (more about that on that thread) and was really just interested in learning how folks a generation or two or three ago dealt with issues like the ones we hear so much about from the "noose media" today.
I'm a college grad from way back in the 20th century and feel a bit like a dinosaur since all my Computer Engineering experience is so old in computer years. If a horse ages three years for one of ours and a dog seven years, I probably age about 10 years for each calendar year. Or at least what I learned seems to keep getting more and more obsolete. When Windows first came out, I can remember thinking no one would want an interface that insults their intelligence the way Windows' "Draw Me A Picture" interface does. Long live DOS! Well, it's... I mean it WAS... Oh, never mind...
I could tell you all about myself but it wouldn't be as interesting as some of the other posts, so I'll spare you the yawns. Nice to "meet" you all!
