Ok, I realize I don't work with the hippest group of guys on the planet but still, if you see a woman with dark nail polish do you automatically think "goth" ?

well, I try not to. Sometimes I do. If there is dark polish and one other thing like black hair or black clothing or some kind of spiked belt or something I probably would. BUt, you can't get less hip than me.
my sister came over for lunch today. I cooked a huge meal. when it was over she didn't even offer to help me take the dishes to the kitchen. It kind of bums me out.
You didn't do the "Hey, can you grab that for me?"?
No, I think that would have been like a lead balloon.
So I guess my original thought of "get of your butt and help" would have been a little too much?
more like the Hindenburg
Bailey had the darkest purple nail polish, but she doesn't look goth
I thought (and still do) that is is just cute polish. I wouldn't have thought anything of it but 3 guys independently said almost the exact same thing - are you goth now. I didn't even think these guys knew what goth was..Is goth still even a thing?
yes, it's huge. Only I think that it's more EMO now, I don't know. I live in a tiny town so things don't even get here until it's over everywhere else.
hahahahaha, I'm picturing Becca and Baki laughing at this conversation..
Anyone would. Sucks being to old to talk about stuff.
Black nail polish is not goth. In fact, its actually in fashion right now. so next time they say it just reply, "no i'm not goth, i'm just in fashion." :p
Black polish has gotten so trendy, I see it everywhere. So tell those guys to get with the times!
You know, there are actually quite a few guys who wear black nailpolish :p though that might just be the line to cross to be considered goth or emo ;) For a girl, I would never think her so. But then again, being labelled like that depends on so many things...
In such cases, when my guest is unlikely to offer help, I also leave everything to be done later on. When I realise that I will have to rush about clearing and tidying while they simply watch me (especially with someone close), I just say, "let's have tea/coffee in the living room" and leave the dishes on the table.
I'd much rather do it when they are gone if I am going to end up doing it on my own anyway. :)
my husband is like that...he gave me that crap when I would get my nails done in black. Actually, I prefer the darkest purples. And, it is a trend now that has nothing to do with goth and I'm seeing people who are not "goths" wearing it. Still, my mother was on my case for my purple/black polish on my toes and she suggested that I might be passed over for promotion at work because of my choice in nail polish. If I don't get a promotion at work, the nail polish is not why. That place promotes who they want black nail polish or not.
