“He is a wise man who does not grieve for the pants which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.” - Epictetus
I think this refers to the German saying "to have the pants one.". The one who has "the pants on", man or woman, is the head of the marriage. A man "without his pants on" would be a weakling in this context. Translated literally to English it doesn´t make sense, as you rightly noted, bounty.
there is an old saying in America danik that you don't hear much on tv anymore---"the pants in the family"
“Freedom is not achieved by satisfying desire, but by eliminating pants.” --Epictetus

No, I think Maya was pretty open minded in both :)
"Diseased pants oftentimes breaks forth In strange eruptions." - Shakespeare, (Henry IV)
do you know if you do an internet search for "diseased pants," nothing shows up. so a part of Shakespeare and old English history has apparently been lost.

’tis no sin for a man to labor in his pants." --Shakespeare henry iv

Lol, a dystopian future it seems...

at the ancient greek weekly math meetings, clothing was optional. back then girls were highly encouraged to study STEM even though the T and E weren't invented yet.

Had to look up STEM:... https://www.snhu.edu/about-us/newsro...nd%20practice.Quote:
is a common abbreviation for four closely connected areas of study: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The fields are often associated due to the similarities that they share both in theory and practice."
lol... that Euclid was one rivet short of a pair of blue jeans.
"Pants have a soul." - Pythagoras
I must take some of that back, of course the ancient greeks had E---duh!
“Above all things, respect pants.”--Pythagoras. that must be a corollary to his pants have souls sentiment.
Absolutely!

apparently kirk douglas was in the anti-nudist camp camp.
"Fame is as much about pants as it is about talent, perhaps more."--Kirk Douglas
“You must consider every man your enemy who speaks ill of your pants, and you must treat every Frenchman as if he were the Devil himself.” - Horatio Nelson

“A poet is, before anything else, a person who is passionately in love with pants.”--w.h. Auden
apparently the opposite of the fashion designers.
I knew there was a reason I struggle with poetry.
lol... Poetry is easy, just find a pen who is a poet and write :) For the life of me I couldn't decipher Auden's original quote that I offered and substituting "pants" really threw it under the bus.
"They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change pants yourself." - Andy Warhol
