Watched 'Gattaca' tonight. Ethan Hawke does a brillian job in it. The storyline was also very interesting as I am reading "Brave New World" at the moment and the DNA oriented society reminded me of the book. Well worth watching. 9/10

I loved Gattaca and totally agree with you. (drools at ethan Hawke)
just watched midnight in the garden of good and evil... has an amazing cast but not sure i really liked the movie... story was good though... for that and john cusak (he's good in just about all of his movies) i'll give it an 8/10, feeling generous tonight...
I watched Van Helsing earlier - not my type of movie; then again, I never seemed a fan of science-fiction or fantasy - not even in literature (no offense). Rating: 3/10.
i thought van helsing got at least a seven... oh well difference of opinions...
i watched shrek 2 (10/10) SWAT (5/10) and Stepford Wives (7/10) (it was one of the best performances by nicloe kidman but the story is just plain wierd... good but weird...)
i only saw the trailler and i really like the philosophical message. It said" everytime a person dies, he/she will loose 21 grams of his/her body weight when he/she still alive. So it said that the 21 grams is actually the weight of the person's soul.Quote:

I watched a 1960s French movie, Jules and Jim, earlier today. For arising a great deal of emotions in me, and for such a controversial plot, I rate it 9.5/10.
Envy with Ben Stiller and some other guy, Jack Black (I had to look it up). It did not provoke the kind of carefree laughter I was in need of, but the company was good.
I watched Old Gringo last night, a film regarding one of my personal favorite writers of all time, Ambrose Bierce. It told an interesting story, but much of it seemed too . . . fiction, considering that all we know about the latter part of Bierce's life concerns his disappearance during the Hispanic Revolution. 6/10
Last nite i got a sudden imsonia and i couldnt sleep, so i checked out my dvd collections and i ended up doing a movie marathon! These were the movies that acommpanied me
One flew over the cuckoo’s nest -Directed by Milos Forman, 5 Oscars and buch of other awards.
No doubt about it. One of some of the rarest masterpieces in the history of movies i suppose. Great story, awesome dialogues, perfect set, professional actors and actresses, and of course wonderful film kru. It’s interesting to see how Milos presented the story, and make it as dazzling as the book. Watching this movie somehow makes me think that a person, regardles of what his/her condition is, has the need to love and to be loved. The friendship that wrapped all the ward members is very touching. And i didnt feel like watching a story about a bunch of people who are considered as lunactis. also learning from some of the characters like billy boy and cheswik, made me think that perhaps freedom is not always about living outside, uncaged and be able to do what ever what we what to do. But it can also means to feel that we’re secure, comfortable, and to be able to be with people whom can we accept and can accept us as well,
I give it (as always) 5:thumbs_up
Clockwork Orange Directed by: Stanley Kubrick
Now, i wish that emily is here to give comment about the movie. This is the first time i saw clockwork and i think,.. well it’s so Kubrick :D. But of course this is another masterpiece about dystopian society. Yet, i dont really get what excatly the point of this movie. I mean is it about how someone has to gone thru the hard way to undertand about respect to other peole. Is it about the fact that each human is actually has his/her own vicious side, which can only be controlled or overcome by his/her own will? I’m not sure. I have to watch it again. I already have the dvd for a quite some time yet, i just got the time to watch it last nite..shame, i know..(for God’s sake it’s Kubrick’s!)
But I love it, so I give it 4 :thumbs_up
The pianist Directed by Roman Polanski, 3 Oscars
This is also my first time, and i think Adrian and Roman Polanski did well. I like the way he imagined himself playing the piano without actually touching it, yet his facial expression shows as if he actually listened to the tunes he played. Another thing that i like is that this is a true movie, and how the movie is wrapped with a story of akward friendship at almost the end the movie. An enemy is an enemy, yet they’re still human as well and compasion can always be given regardless whom your facing. Though perhaps the Nazi captain is being pragmatic with his help coz he’s aware that german is falling and he could use the poor pianist's help sometime in the future. but it's a great movie as well..
i give it 4 :thumbs_up
Adapation Directed by Spike Jones, 2 Golden Globe and 4 Oscar nominations
I only watched half of the movie. Not only becoz my eyes were already tired, but also because this spike jonze’s movie is a diffcult one to understand. It jumps from one time in the present to the old past, then to near past then to the present again. This is actually a story about 3 different characters which is connected with the same thing: orchids. It take some concentration to understand it. Yet Spike is still one of the good directores ever, i have to see this movie again sometime to make sure about it
i give it 2 :thumbs_up for the time being
saw Kinsey wed. VERY good movie. it's funny how much we STILL don't know about sex. just look @FCC hoopla over TV and how Europeans treat their TV.
I loved this film, not only for its remarkable soundtrack, but for incorporating such an amazing story - a true story, if I remember correctly. Even though I saw it long ago, I still rate it, easily 10/10.Quote:

But most of all this movie makes me sad, for all the children of the sexties that believed that it was all going to be Ok. That drugs was harmless because people were good, and that drugs was going to make us grow. Nothing like that in this movie. Nothing like that. And some of the people remind me more about old friends then I really like to admit. I ´ll give this movie 9 out of ten.
I love it too, a breathless film, maybe the best film of François Truffaut. Truffaut is one of my favorate directors, stolen kiss is his another masterpiece. I think french made the best comedies.Quote:
