what device would you use to catch those things?
Some american Indians make things called dreamcatchers. Don't think they want to catch nightmares. My son had a couple dreamcatchers and i can't say if they worked or not. Yet. quasimodo1
I love the customs of the North American Indians, such interesting stuff, eh?
(the Canadian way of asking a question, just add an 'eh' at the end....??)
I sleep with a dream-catcher above my head, and I dream every night, so I would say them might be effective, no? Then again, I am of Native American blood from both sides of the family, the great-grandson of a full blood Cherokee, so it might be in the blood, you think? Or I might just be predispositioned to dream regularly and in full color anyway, n'est ç'est pas?

what is this french at the end of your posts Mr Pen?
Can I play?
I don't do you?
Is it not? I mean, you did want the translation, right, Shalot? Ah, why did I waste two years of French flirting with the teacher? And why do I know words and phrases from dozens of languages but am doomed to English? http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...lies/Teeth.gif
why am i also doomed to english when my native language is Irish?
To Niamh: Stick to Irish, or Gaelic, or Celtic: they all have sound and inflection more interesting than most English, just not the vocabulary and as many writers. quasimodo1
forgot to follow up with a question: To what extent does good self-esteem, all the shades of grey in between, and bad self-esteem determine the quality of one's writing?
oh no, did you have to ask that? ;)
WHat do you think??
I think they are inextricably related but one doesn't cancel the other out. Writing, all kinds, can happen in either condition but I'd venture that the more inspiring kind would eminate from persons with good self-esteem as differentiated from arrogance. I see a relationship, a complicated one. quasimodo1
:D Is there a question in there??
I don't know --- sometimes writing can be therapeutic. As far as inspirational value, I'd say that would come from the writer's ability to combine words and put it down, self-esteem and/or arrogance or not.
And what is self-esteem exactly? What are the origins of this term and who came up with it? I heard about "self-esteem" in some class we had to take in middle school and all I can remember is self-esteem = don't smoke drugs. *edit* this is questions only isn't it? Did I just post several declarative sentences in a thread for interogative sentences only? where is my dunce cap?
Will a chef's cap suffice?
does that imply that you can cook?
I can cook ONLY if my life depends on it
But am I a good cook, THAT is the question!
Well, my dad always said the only thing worse than a woman that can cook and won't is a woman who can't cook and will! Would you believe I had an aunt like that? Her cooking would drive a starving begger away from the door at full tilt just from the smell, know what I mean?
I know what you mean, but did she ever improve? isn't the old saying correct, if at first you don't succeed..?
as in "try try again?"
Unfortunately, yeah, she did try again, and again, and again,--HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...omKane/TID.gif Practice makes perfect, but what if what you are doing is already wrong? Won't you just prefect wrong?
Did she burn water, Pen?
Hee. Would you believe poor ol' Aunt Rosie would probably burn a salad? That was one stop on our "visit the family" walks (we didn't own a car, mom never learned to drive), that mom made certain we never arrived at anytime near a meal! Aunt Rosie may still be alive, I dunno, we lost all track of her after she diviored Uncle Bud, who died at age 56. He was mom's oldest brother. Mom is 67, I think don't quote me, ok?
I think a person would have to be the epitome of a bad cook to burn salad, does anybody else agree?
I didn't burn salad, but some potatoes in water came to a charcoal remains ... which shocked my mother in law and made me very embarassed, would you believe...?
Was the water from the half full cup in which started this very game?
Would you say that water in a cup being half-full or half-empty is important, or knowing the difference? http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1.../Beautiful.gif
Wouldn't that be a matter of opinion and desired reaction from your listener?
Hi RJ, nice to see you, it has been a while hasn't it? :D
We are having hail right now where I live, isn't that spiffy? Or not?
You wouldn't dare mention any turnips, now would you?
I just might mention turnips now, since you have reminded me, hmm?
But it would be especially noteworthy if it was actually hailing turnips...that would be a sight to see, no? :p
What is wrong with hailing turnips?! :(
How does the use of the word "noteworthy" imply that there is something wrong with hailing turnips?
Quote:
noteworthy - worthy of notice; "a noteworthy advance in cancer research"
notable
worthy - having worth or merit or value; being honorable or admirable; "a worthy fellow"; "no student deemed worthy, and chosen for admission, would be kept out for lack of funds"- Nathan Pusey; "worthy of acclaim"; "orthy of consideration"; "a worthy cause"
2. noteworthy - worthy of notice; "a noteworthy fact is that her students rarely complain"; "a remarkable achievement"
remarkable
significant, important - important in effect or meaning; "a significant change in tax laws"; "a significant change in the Constitution"; "a significant contribution"; "significant details"; "statistically significant"
Is Hockeychick not aware of the turnip affair primarily involving Aimus and Kathy?
Was that before his time?
I guess she is unaware of the deep and abiding love, that I and Aimus have for turnips...but I guess that is ok, hmmm? :D
It may well be before Hockeychick's time, I think she joined in March?
So, RJ, how are you doing?
Would you believe that I am perfectly well?
Would it suffice to say I lost interest in Lit-Net and prioritized RL?
Should I really think the first quote in your signature is hilarious?
And isn't Kathy's new avatar just the Cat's Meow?
