She seems a little absent...

vanished in a puff of smoke...
Only to reappear! haha
I'm very well, thank you! Just busy with work, horses, and a lot of reading.
Tea, anyone? **passes around the pot**
I'd rather have some coffee, if that's not too much trouble http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/c...eer_smiley.gif
*walks in with his blind-fold fast secured* . . . . .*stumbles around*
I have a question I'd like to ask those present. But first a story:
So, the other day our vacuum went kaput. To be honest, I was glad for it -- the thing hardly worked anymore. So, I went to a specialty store and purchased a dandy Electrolux, professional-grade vacuum at a good price.
And, as long as you don't tell the 'blokes' over yonder, I was excited to go home and give our house a good once-over with the new machine. However, before I could indulge in that delight, I had to prepare dinner for the family. For reasons unknown to me, I decided upon making a big "pot roast" with a beef shoulder roast, carrots, celery, garlic and some root vegetables. I assembled the these ingredients, dutifully followed the recipe, and put the pot roast an old cast-iron pot to bake in the oven at 300 degrees for 3 hours.
In no time the roast filled the house with pleasant odors of home cooking. Then I set to my next chore in full earnest. Vacuuming. I giddily turn on the new machines and gave the house a thorough twice-over , delighting in the pleasing combination of a clean home with dinner cooking.
Now, to the strange part and the question. During my second run over the carpets, I had a strange desire to don a pearl necklace, dress up a bit, and prepare a gin & tonic for my spouse who was due home from work within the hour!!
I refrained from the pearls, but carried the other desires to their fruition.
The question: Have you been taken by similar desires when enjoying the pleasures unhurried household chores? Or am I just a bit. . . .strange?
My thanks for your responses.
Good Hunting!
 this made me laugh so much!!
But I had felt the same way, you know (hehe yeah you dont :D), you feel accomplished and feel happy and feel good enough as to make it all complete-the dess up a bit, and the gin&tonic.
Now i know why you came to us
hey! but your wife should had been happy and surprised, right?
Take care comedian!
Oh my Comedian! your a real housewife!  (jk)
Chores... ugh!
I think you should have posted this here.
;)
Comedian- I know exactly what you're talking about. Seriously. When I do get in my real domestic motherly mode (once a week...Tuesdays usually), sometimes I do like to fix myself up since I'm usually a mess by the time I've finished cleaning and all. It's nice to feel good about yourself in your nice clean house. And its nice to do something nice for your significant other. My bf does that sometimes to surprise me when I get home from work (sans the pearls :P) The house will be clean (for all of an hour) and a yummy dinner on the table and everyone looks all nice and fresh. Lovely, but usually short lived
True for me too! I get into these really productive moods when I just go on a really satisfying cleaning frenzy. And then everything smells all nice and it just feels good when you're all cleaned up in clean surroundings. It's just nice!
And don't feel too awkward, Comedian. My dad kicked up a stink insisting that he be the one to pick the colour of our new vacuum.
I'm not really one for cleaning. I'm an organised chaos type o' gal. dont get me wrong i do tidy up but i aint a frenzy cleaner like others in my family.
What is the deal with these guys wanting to make color decisions, or anything else that once seemed to be more of a feminine concern? They'll wear a grey shirt with khaki pants but then they care what color the vacuum cleaner is. Or whatever it might be. My husband has become rather critical of my decorating choices. He took issue with the curtains I got for the bedroom and was bothered by the positioning of a ruffle and I was taken aback by that one. Weird.
