Gallows Humor?
Without gallows humor, life would be unlivable. It is what preserves the sanity in the face of the inevitable, of one's mortality. Certain ethnic groups, what's more, have developed gallows humor to a high art, like my own Jewish peeps, and the Irish.
Wildean:
Aye sometimes a little Oscar Wilde hits the spot, especially his children's stories like "The Selfish Giant."
Walden?
Aye
Christmas Movies?
for me nay, but I know they are otherwise popular, so I say aye.
im much more of a fan of the old Christmas cartoons from childhood---Rudolph, frosty, the Grinch, Charlie brown, etc.
shopping at the underdog place even though it might be a smidgen less convenient and/or cost a teenie bit more?
Aye, though rarely any more.
Waiting in lines the day of a premier for a movie/event (example: Star Wars "7"/new iPhone) or waiting a while till the crowds have gone ?
I am allergic to crowds.
Star Trek or Star Wars?
(me too)
Oops I got off topic above re: Aye / Nay versus This / That...
AYE
Tough question if I had to choose. I'd go with the Star Trek franchise because of the quantity of stories (700+) in ~50 years.
38 years for 7-movies was agony; though the paperback novellas by various writers pledged to remain true to the Star Wars universe were fun. Quality here over quantity makes the decision even tougher.
Buying souvenirs/collectibles from said franchises ?
I say aye in general but nay for me in particular. although, I think if I had the opportunity to get something, used and very inexpensive from star trek, id do it.
while I like star wars, I like star trek sooooo much better.
sequels, very late but better than never?
Nay by then I am usually over the movie even if it was one I really liked.
Book series that are 12+ books long?
Yea, but not in the popular sense.
The closest my coming to read 12+ otherwise was L. Ron Hubbard's sci-fi dekaology "Mission Earth", which, in hindsight, was injurious to my tender sensibilities (I much prefer LRH's "Battlefield Earth", a single volume, which I reread once every few years).
Raking leaves ?
ack no way! laughs...
I think 3-4 is a good number. do you have/have read/know of some that are that long muse?
yet another rocky (sorta) movie, creed?
oh heck, late to the game!
I live where I don't "have" to rake leaves...last year I did, this year I didn't. so I can say aye and nay.
yet another rocky (sorta) movie, creed?
Aye. This latest actually looks pretty good, though I'll wait till it comes on the telly to watch.
Thank you notes ?
Aye I guess I have nothing against them but cannot recall the last time I sent one.
