My husband spiked some old potporri with 100% peppermint essential oil and put it in a glass in my car's cup holder. Now every time I go somewhere my sinuses are cleared!

An excellent idea :D my cup holder is right in front of an air vent.Quote:

My birds are so funny! When I give them fresh food and water, they "help" me by grabing hold of the dish and backing it back into the cage.
I know in usa it is used to refer to girls as something like "hot chicken" which is absolutely offensive to me anywau i must say that this horrible definition is used also in italy when "porks boys"say "pollastrelle" derived by POLLO which is in english chicken.
Anyway i'm quite sure it has nothing to do with the spanish chicas which just means girls. In spanish there's another word to refer to girls in that way but i can't remember which one is at the momnt, 'cause spanish is full of that kind of words...a really amazing language believe me!!
I see we are back to the origin of the English slang chick for girl.Quote:

The war between the sexes (as writer James Thurber called it) is revealed in slang language.
Three definitions of the term chick:
Quote:
Definition:
A young woman, particularly an attractive young woman.
Example:
1) I like Holly -- she's a cool chick!
Etymology:
A 'chick' is literally a young chicken or any baby bird. The use of 'chick' to refer to a young woman comes from 1920s African-American slang.
Quote:
chick
(Zoology) A young bird.
(specifically) A young chicken.
(slang) A (beautiful) woman.
Something else I learned that I found quite interesting is the fact that "biddy" is also a chicken. As in that old "biddy" ought to mind her own business.Quote:
chick n 1. a female. The term is considered offensive by many females, but is used by other females to describe themselves (e.g. "biker chicks.") female
but I digress.
Does anyone else find it funny that the banner add says: "Don't Read"? I know it's an add for audio something - but still it's very doric.
So does anyone else have a problem with the term "chick"? Do I need to consider changing my thing up there? It took me this long to get one... :brickwall
