We girls are really brave, Sleepy :D
Well I must admit IM not too sure about cold showers but Ill try it ...right after I have a VERY hot bath tonight, then again Im not to keen on standing under pouring water more thant the minum required time anyway...I have this childish and totally irrational fantasy/fear of my thought getting washed away. And yet I cant go 2 days without washing my hair nowadays.
Only once every two days?????? :eek2:
I usually wash my hair twice a day, and can't possibly imagine doing it less than once a day.
yes well noone sees my hair, and every 2 days is every other day and you wash you too much you increse the likly hood of attractiong lice which frankly isnt that bad when you have short hair...although it must be a real pig with hair your colour, its no joke with long hair and 50 million non washable headscarfs that all must be washed so no thanks Id rather not have squeaky clean hair.
It is too much hassle to wash long hair everyday anyway. My ends are so dry and my hair gets too frizzy. Actually, hair that has a little bit of oil in it is easier to style as well. All you ever (or never) wanted to know about hair washing. Gosh, am I really posting this in the guys only thread? Men, um...grunt and take that very chilly shower while following this hair care advice. Then have some raspberry jam with bits. ;)

Wash every day: Fine, thin hair and most short styles. Fine hair tends to become flat and greasy-looking if left unwashed for too long, thanks to the natural oils from the scalp. Short hair can become greasy quickly, too. Pick a gentle shampoo and follow with a light conditioner -- sometimes called a detangler -- with every shower.
Wash two to three times a week: Long, thick and/or curly hair. These hair types tend to become dry easily, especially at the ends. That's because the scalp's natural, moisturizing oils have a long way to travel to get to the ends, and are often washed away before reaching them. By skipping a day in between shampoos, these natural oils have more opportunity to lubricate and condition the hair. On your off days, simply style hair dry, or rinse with warm water, condition, then dry and style as usual. Choose a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
Wash one to two times a week: Very dry, kinky, African-American, and/or chemically processed hair. Hair like this is either naturally very porous, and therefore very dry; or has been severely damaged by perming solutions, straighteners, or colorings. These hair types benefit from as little washing as possible, plus heavy conditioning packs every week. Look for a shampoo formulated for chemically processed or African-American hair, which will be more moisturizing and gentler than regular shampoos. Follow with a thick conditioner
It's incredibly hot here, so i can probably take the cold shower challenge for a couple weeks. Probably much more unfair for all those in winter now....
I have long hair and I couldn't imagine not washing it every day but it's relatively fine so that gives me an excuse. ;)
I'm new to the thread...but I've read enough of the history to be interested... as a gentleman I accept the challenge.....should any of us make it to 5 weeks do we continue until everyone else is out...or continue onto 6 weeks....general ground rules should be established......as 'you' set the challenge...you should lay down the rules.....and everyoe be honest here...on their honor as gentlemen....
honorary gentlemen....and gentle-women too.....
thankyou virgil....glad to be here.... and had
I did it....I did it...I did it.....
I had a cold shower today....:D my feet became red, but I did it...:D
I love cold showers, they're so invigorating. Take one after you work out, or at the end of your morning shower turn the water from hot to extreme cold. That will wake you up. I heard it actually helps with circulation of blood through the body, and does other stuff as well.
see, I knew I could count on my girls (and old ladies :D )Quote:

yep, I've heard that too. That's one more reason why our old geezers ought to take part (no, I'm not glaring at anyone in particular :p )Quote:

Yes well I started off on the lowest setting and that was TOO much so I was on the highest of the cold settings maybe tomorrow Ill go down a level.
i did the lowest level, but i jumped right out of the shower after i'd washed off the shower gel :)
I'll try to do a bit longer tomorrow
(my shower's the type with two thingies... dials? knobs? thingies, one for cold and one for hot water, so i turned the cold on on all the way and left the hot one off).
It did seem to me as a punishment, but I liked the idea of having a cold bath in winters. :D
You dont plan to make your students go through this if you ever get angry...:p
hmmmmm, now that's an interesting idea Maddie :)
sadly, we're not alllowed to punish our students :(
hm, I think my next holliday should be at a boot camp :)
hey its not so good if you are the elected student rep because then its YOUR responsibility to deal with disruption in class ect etc because the staff arent allowed to. BUt I swear if the boys behind me start whistling again in the Data tech lectures Im going to put my tounge and foul temper to good use an if I cant shame them into shutting up one way Ill just hit them :flare:. There are people in that class who pay over 8,000 pounds sterling to have those lectures and it just isnt fair to make them usless.
I completely sympathize Night! My private school, which is completely inferior in terms of everything compared to the public school i went to my whole life ironically, costs a pretty penny but everyone wastes their time! If the boys in my classes spent half the time they make sexual jokes in class listening the world would be a wiser place.
wow does this thread fly!
I swear I'm innocent! :p
Many people do ;)
I, for one, HAD to take cold showers for 3 MONTHS when we first moved here and were living with my grandparents. My grandparents live in an old house and are VERY conservative with water and electricity...so they don't have a water heater :bawling: So THEY take cold showers every single day of their lives, lol....
and I, well, I took cold showers again when I first moved into my dorm and couldn't figure out how to turn on the hot water  But now I've figured it out. I might just take on this challenge, though I may have already blown it by taking a hot shower this morning :(
Yikes! I love the cold, but feel no need to sacrafice my hot showers for...um...enlightenment? Nirvana? Or just the thrill of not using a unneccesary convienence?
Or maybe to save electricity? I'll stick to following my Dad and turning off everything he doesn't for now (which is everything. Lights, Music, TV, Oven >_< he's rather forgetful).
But maybe in the summer, when the unrelenting heat and humidity has me grouchy beyond reason, I'll start taking cold showers =P
I had a cold shower today.....forced myself to stay in for about 10 minutes...I figure that way it will be easier to stay in for the next one....and if there isn't another guy doing this then really the girls deserve those smoking jackets that I've read are kicking around.....(dont worry girls you dont have to wear them if you dont want)......League of Extraordinary GentleMEN....I'll believe that once some of you prove it...at least be willing to accept the challenge....
Why in heaven's name should anyone want to take cold showers? I can see if one is forced to. This past summer we were sharing a beach house for a few days with seven or eight other people, and there wasn't enough hot water for everyone. We let the children and ladies get first dibs and I wound up with a cold  shower every day. So when you have to, you have to. But if you don't have to, what is to be gained?
Oh no that the worst thing to do, esspecially if youve got heat rash, stick to warm water not boiling hot but the cold water just makes the heat so much worseplus I found it made heat rash burn like ..... and ocassionaly for some wierd reason go really nasty.
huh.... I cant be sure only being me and a she but Im tempted to say RUBBISH!! :p
NO you can start tomorrow:D:D
hey Ladies and gentelmen:D
thought this thread has died, what brought it :D?
shame on us,girls!
If you ask me, all this need for taking cold showers is simply the result of penis envy. :p
