Larry around the world! Cont- Uallachán!

I enter my house tonight and my brother says sarcastically "Hey, do you know an Adorero Dio?" and what do you know but in his hand is a package. I open it up quickly and there smiling back at me and already rambling of about all his great adventures was Larry! I finally convinced him to settle down (seeing as it is 10 o'clock at night and time for me to be in bed) and he told me his trip was wonderful.He is smiling as aways and will be sleeping in an old doll bed I dug out just for the occasion. Tomorrow we will be going to a homeless feeding in the morning where it will be Christmas all over again- I'll see if I can't get a few pictures (if I can get my camera to work :crash: ). Then we will be going to see the beach if the weather is right and sometime in the next few days go to see a museum. But for now, both of us are quite tired and are heading for bed.

So glad Larry made it there safely. Sorry to open you to fraternal sarcasm, but I realized at the post office that I only knew your screen name to send the package to. Sounds like Larry is going to have a great visit in Ventura, and good to hear that you're making him do some charity work. If anyone can reform this leprechaun's madcap dissolute lifestyle I'm sure it's our A.D. :) Can't wait for the pics!

:eek: Personally I am very sensitive to that and if I send stuff to online friends I need to know their name at least, and can't put myself to use their screen name even if I'm not familiar with it. Same as I don't really sign with my screen name (well except that the one I have on this forum is one I've used in real life too so it doesn't feel weird to do it). Well I mean nothing wrong with that I was just commenting because it came to my mind :) (by the way how can you send something if there's no surname for the recipient? Although I guess it works in the US as most people seem to live in single houses? You wouldn't get anything to me at my address in Italy as other 7 families share the very same address, you'd need my surname to make sure it reaches my post box - well sometimes the postman leaves stuff over the boxes when he's in doubt whom they belong to)

And I don't like A.D.'s screen name for personal reasons :(:blush:

As I say, it wasn't until I got to the post office that I realized I didn't have a name to send the package to, but it looked like a house address, so I figured there shouldn't be too much of a problem finding the right person. I stuck the screen name on because I figured that at least if there was some mix up and people were asking around, AD would recognize the name as something connected with her. I think perhaps especially being one of our younger members AD may prefer to keep her surname to herself anyway? I actually can't remember how Virg. addressed my Larry package. I think I gave him my impossibly spelled surname, but maybe my postwoman is still puzzling over who this "Petrarch's Love" person is? :lol: In any case, they usually just deliver everything addressed to my apartment number to my box regardless of name. It seems to me that in the U.S. the name in most cases is important only occasionally if there's some error, like a friend of mine left off the apartment number on the address or something. Maybe others, like my friends who live in the commune house have more trouble with that sort of thing though.

Yeah - maybe it's also different in the US. I would think it's barely legal here to send something without a proper name... though I might be wrong. Recently I participated to some mail exchange on another forum, and all the people who requested a card to be sent from me gave me their full name, as I suppose that's what feels natural. I understand the concern about giving names online, especially for very young people whose parents may be worried about it. I hate to give my full name simply because I dislike my surname, but I feel that there's no other way to receive mail... Maybe I should try, especially as now in England I live in a house for the first time in my life (and I'm already planning on never to do that again next time I move, living in a house with such a fragile little door is a nightmare if you've spent most of your life on a third floor (fourth for Americans ;)) with huge doors :lol:

I don't think it matters if a person's actual name is on the package. I still get all kind of crap addressed to many of the previous occupants here. I put those back in the mail box. Also, I get things addressed to me in my maiden name - I am not sure how they managed to track me to my current address with my maiden name when I got married two whole addresses ago.

and I get junk addressed to "Resident" sometimes. It could be addressed to I don't know, Hannah Banana and they would still drop it off here.

Indeed, here in the US names don't matter very much. And I do live in a house with only my family. Larry is enjoying his stay but is very mad at the moment, as am I, because my camera decided to die on us. I have pictures on my phone but with no way to transfer them to the compy. I am having my technological genius of a brother work on it right now and will get pics up asap. We went to an Old Folks home today and he enjoyed seeing my church. Tomorrow we will be playing with puppies and then going to a party for New Years eve- if my digital camera is not up and running by then I will buy a disposable one and scan them to the compy. Larry says hello to everyone by the way.

Glad that leprechaun's finally been dragged off to church (I thought of taking him to Christmas Eve service, but then I thought of the expression on the pastor's face as I snapped a pic. of a leprechaun by the altar :lol: ), and I bet he was a great help cheering up the people in the old folks home. Hope that clever brother of yours can find a way to get the pics out of the camera, and hope you get your camera up and running again soon so that we can see the continuing adventures of Larry. Any great plans for this evening? Just don't let Larry have too much of the bubbly (unless it's sparkling cider I suppose).

It's good to see Larry finally have some wholsome fun. After New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, he must be tired of all the wickedness. :D

HAHAHAHA! :lol: Indeed. Well, that's all I have planned so far, though you never know. Tonight we have a party (a youth one so it could get wild :p ) and then tomorrow there's another one (adults- even more chance). So maybe he'll get a break from all this 'wholesome fun'. :D Though with me, that is quite hard. Today we might visit the old Mission in Ojai.
