Hello, my name is Bethany Argyros, in case you couldn't tell from my name :p.

I'm currently writing litfic and popfic, or whatever happens to come to mind. Im also an essayist and a poet, though I've not written an essay in like, oh, three years? lol

i write rants sometimes that end up on my livejournal page. thats about it.

uh. yeah. I live in the states, i grew up in Melbourne, and i am of Greek decent. im kinda like a big explosion of things in one happy little aussie package. and i just found my new favorite smiley. :goof:

Hullo, I was slightly distracted from by revision for my English exam tomorrow (argh!) into joining up on this forum. Hopefully I'll be able to make some helpful contributions to the site!
I am in the middle of my application to university (reading English) and in my spare time I write for a co-edit a literature based magazine. Hope to see everyone around the forum :)

Hullo fellow lovers of good literature...I'm very new to this forum and web-site...I just stumbled upon it today. I can't find my way back to a page on which some-one asked who wrote The Portrait Of Dorian Gray. I THINK it was Oscar Wilde, I could be wrong. Same person asked about The Highwayman (one of my favourite poems). It was written by Alfred Noyes.

I discovered this site today and was compelled to join. At 43 I am attending a local college in the medical field. Through this I discovered that I am actually not as dumb as I believed! (Probably close though!) I have been reading some of your threads with total reverence to your knowledge of literature. Oh what I would give to take a few classes on the subject. I'm in a small town with limited resources.
I just wanted to say HELLO :wave: to everyone. I may not have much to say in the future for fear of appearing ignorant. If someone could please direct me to some good authors to start my quest for knowledge, I would appreciate it. I'm afraid my only exposure to literature has been Koontz, King, Crichton and etc... Not the most genius of writers, but enjoyable.:rolleyes:
I love to write, but do not have the skills or exposure to make it worth a darn!

Hey all, new registered user here, i mainly used this site for a chance to read the classics but have since expanded my interest.
Been reading for enjoyment since i was like 8, things like "Where the Red Fern Grows" stuff like that and into my teens read mostly novels just for entertainment, nothing deep. King, Crighton, Lehane, even some L'mour. haha.
Anyways, im currently looking into poetry and this site has some decent material so I'll be here a bit.
Any suggestions are valuable to me, and and quick explaination Why you recommend a poet/poem would be appreciated.

This is my first post as I am new. I am also fairly new to classic literature.
I've recently started reading all of the books I missed out on from High school
ie...Grapes of Wrath, Lord of the Flies, Catch 22... I'm sure you get the picture. Anyways all very good books even if my reading selections are a bit
"high school" I can't imagine that these books would not be enjoyable for anyone regardless of their repetoir. Anyways any:brickwall suggestions for when I " graduate from high school?"
