Hi there, I'm completely new to this. I'd like to create a blog but I can't see how to do it. Anybody help?
Hi Larry and welcome. On the first page of this website - http://www.online-literature.com/forums/forum.php you will find blogs in the third heading along.
HI thanks for replying! I've found the blog area but I still can't see how I can create a blog, it doesn't seem to say anywhere. Also, how can I delete posts? I accidentally posted my first message twice and I'd like to remove one of them. I clicked on the "edit post" button but there's nothing to say how to delete it. I've checked the FAQs but they're really not very helpful. It just basically says 'you can delete your posts by clicking the edit button' but nothing else! Same for the blog, it just says 'if you're allowed to post blog entries...' but then nothing to say how you get to be allowed! Sorry for all these questions before I've even started but I have to say it's not really very user-friendly or easy to navigate your way here if it's your first time. Feeling a bit useless quite honestly.
Its not entirely simple using the blogs, I started one but haven't made a single post. When you click on blogs the first option is "My Blog". You just have to feel your way forward. I started by reading one of the blogs There are some good blogs here, my favourite is "Memories of the 28th Century" by PeterL.
I've been looking through the blogs section and there's some really interesting stuff. Maybe I'm even less technologically-minded than I thought, but I don't see "My Blog" when I got to blogs. And I still can't see how to delete a post! Anyway, I've started finding my way around the site and posting, so it's fun anyway. I'll check out the blog you suggested, thanks.
Hello everybody !
Here to share some ideas, get some usefull information.
I love all kind of reading, so I'm sure i'll be happy here :-) I'm also the webmaster of a of book exchange website.
That's all I think :-)
Welcome, BL. Look forward to learning more.
My name is Agboola Israel. I'm from Nigeria and I'm 17 years old. I also love writing and reading a LOT. And I'm interested in every writer or/and reader here either female or male. I'll be posting my works soon!
Message me, I'll appreciate it.
Look forward to seeing you works posted!
Larry,
I think most of us donīt master the mystery of deleting a LitNet post. I just delete what I have written and then put 5 dots or "double post" on the message (there have to be at least 5 written characters or you former message will be restored).
As for the blog, I just had a look. I think you have to click on any blog of the ones listed on the right side of the forum overview. Under the commands you find "blog settings" and then you can costumize your own blog.
TheEdge, I've sent you a message!
Hi Everyone
I'm known as Cassie and I just thought I'd pop in here to say hello.
I am an avid reader and take my e reader with me wherever I go as it's so much lighter than trying to carry a library! I usually have 3 or 4 books on the go at the same time.
When I was younger I used to write a lot of poetry but stopped when I began my nurse training and have only taken up writing again in the past couple of years. Firstly with poetry and more recently with short stories and flash fiction. I have also been known to dabble in fanfiction for my sins.
Hopefully joining this site will help me learn how to not only improve my own writing but also widen my reading interests and introduce me to new authors and genres I may otherwise have missed.
Welcome Cassie. It always amazes me that my IPad carries a library on it. Is flash fiction when you get a hand full of words and have to make a story with them? Welcome to the site in any case.
Hi Pompey. Thanks for the welcome. Yes, with flash fiction the number of words often varies and there seems to be no set amount but can go from a diminutive 55 words upto and including a more wordy 1000. I usually find it easier to stick to writing between 100 and 500 words.
Howdy! Cassie Hughes.
Please don't be shy about sharing your poetry and entering our poetry contests: http://www.online-literature.com/for...s-amp-Contests .
There is also a movement to get some LitNet poetry into a book form; the content being chosen among current LitNet poets who desire to have their poetry added: http://www.online-literature.com/for...96-submit-here .
Both the contests and the book are a bit on the wane for now but only because we lack enthusiastic contributors.
Looking forward to your contribution to LitNet,
Oh. And another howdy to all and sundae ! (sic)
Ta ! (short for tarradiddle),
tailor STATELY
Thanks for the welcome tailor.
I'll definitely think about the poetry contests but I'm not sure I am good enough for a book yet. :)
Hello everyone, Daniel here.
I have been writing since I can remember but just now my friend talked my into sharing my writings. I am 19 years old. I am from Colombia (South America, not Columbia), I am a student and I work with a proffessorin the investigation field.
I hope you all enjoy how I spend my time when I am not studying, reading or working.
Welcome to the site Daniel/Woodpecker. Please make yourself at home.
Hello people. I am a total noob at writing and don't read a lot of books but wanted to try posting stories, so that's it.
Welcome to the site, POL. Your science fiction story is interesting so far. I hope you keeping going with it. :)
Thank you, I'm glad to hear that someone read it.
Story wise... I don't know entirely yet, it's a work in progress, I'm writing down any ideas I get and hopefully I can fit them in the story.
Hello fellow book lovers I am new to this site. I am a life long booklover. I have my own library of about two thousand books. I read mostly 18th and 19th century litature, as well as Homer, Virgil and the like. I enjoy history and bios. I also enjoy music and art.
Welcome to the site, Biblo. There are many people here with similar interests, so you should fit right in.
Hello friends!! Are you interested to read Arabic Stories, I love to read. Please share your favorite stories with me .
Any particular ones you have in mind?
Salutations! I've only scratched the surface of literature, but hopefully I can contribute something of value. Favourite authors are P. G. Wodehouse and Ernest Hemingway.
Welcome PetSounds, and make yourself at home.
Hello everyone!! I have been wanting to start writing for a while but kept talking myself out of it. Recently, I gave it serious thought and just went for it. I started a blog about a week ago and I absolutely love it. I have posted stories almost everyday. It's kind of addicting. I am a customer service specialist at the company I work for, and all I can think about is getting home and writing the next story. I finally found something I'm excited about doing. I have come to this site and have read some posts and like the community here. I like making homemade crafts for family and friends for gifts or just for fun. I am at a point in my life where I am trying new things.
Wellcome, Macey, make yourself at home. There are a lot of activities: short story threads, poetry, discussions, games, etc.
You can also write a blog here on LitNet. There are some that have been going for many years now. I any event, welcome, Macey, to LitNet.
Hi everyone. This is my first day on this site and I'm hoping for great things. I love literature and, in fact, all art: dance, music, graphic arts, literature, etc. I graduated from college in Virginia, spent ten years in the Marine Corps and then 30 years in the non-pc computer business, finally retiring to Las Vegas, where we now live. I'm hoping that this site will allow open discourse without the vile anonymous hate, bigotry and discourtesy on which much of the internet now seems to thrive.
Welcome to LitNet Jayfoe. What's the non-pc computer business? Sounds intriguing.
Hi Guys,
I am Khaled and finally I am here. I love reading and sci-fi is my most favorite genre. I hope I will be a good part of this forum and will let you know my thoughts and reading.I wish to gather some knowledge through this great forum.
I love reading. Fishing is my hobby. I also love to travel from here and there.
I am a Engineer and completed my B.Sc. in Civil Engineering degree about four years ago.
I am from Bangladesh, a land of green beauty with numerous rivers and the longest sea beach of the world, Cox's Bazar.
Have a good day.
Welcome to the website Khaled.
I'm joining this admirable forum on something of a lark, having found myself here at the latter end of a protracted Google search for the meaning of a certain allusion in Dostoevsky. While I typically like to keep my online interactions at a minimum, it suddenly occurred to me as potentially worthwhile to share my incurable habit of reading with somebody new and as-yet unmet.
Like "Virgil," whose post I perused below, I concluded my academic career (so far) with a Master's Degree in English, against which I was shrewdly and vehemently advised. While earning this degree (the last of four), I was granted the incomparable privilege of teaching a Freshman writing class, in which I insinuated at every opportunity portions of the literature that has defined my intellectual life, as well as those few hours of pleasure with which life has deigned to assign me.
My reading, at this or any other time, follows no particular pattern or discernible logic. In the last couple of weeks, I've read a collection of English verse, Bullfinch's Mythology, the first part of Don Quixote, and Allan Quartermain by H. Rider Haggard, while my trip to the library this afternoon found me with an armful of Samuel Beckett, Saul Bellows, and the aforementioned Russian. It has lately become a diversion of mine to tackle the library alphabetically, picking up any work that my conscience tells me I ought to have read by now, but haven't.
Thank you for suffering my presence here. I look forward to many happy greetings.
Welcome to LitNet, Chillingworth. I guess your pattern of reading is much like many others on this forum. The main thing is to enjoy it.
