Who am I...
Hi everyone! I'm Angie, I live in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia, but I've lived all over America (thank you Uncle Sam). I'm a college student at Fairmont State University; history major, English minor. Also, I'm a veteran of the USAF, a single mother, and I own my own salon. I've been making people beautiful since 1995, and will always do some hair...I just wanted to break the typical hairstylist image and be smart and pretty. haha
I love to write, poetry seems to be the genre I've fallen into over the years, but my true passion lies in memoirs (fictional/non-fictional) and fiction. This semester I'm in 17th c. Literature and would love some opinions on "Paradise Lost."
Currently, I'm writing a paper of the importance of history in literature. I'm analyzing the characters of Adam, Eve and Satan. Any opinions or persecptions would be fabulous!

Wecome Angie. That is quite a history. You sound like a great addition to our forum.

Good evening! or good morning, or good afternoon, I guess depending on where you are lol. I'm in Seoul, South Korea at the moment, and it's late at night here.
It took me a while to find this introduction area, and I've already started making posts elsewhere. I'm American and halfchilean, from central Illinois (my dad's a farmer), I enjoy writing and am working on a fantasy book overhere--160 pages and counting w00t. I just recently discovered this forum when my dad sent me an email with a Yeats poem and a link to this place. The Yeats poem was most excellent btw. Just looking around for good discussion on writing and maybe reading and looking to meet some like minded individuals.

Welcome to you all, look forward to seeing you in the forums! :)

Back after a prolonged absence :)
Some of you already know me, but I have not been around for quite some time. A tremendous workload has made it very important to me to use my time as efficiently as possible, and the sad fact is that this place lost out when I went through my list of priorities.
The burden has not really lessened, but I'm beginning to get to grips with things now, so I hope to be around more often from now on.:thumbs_up

Hello
Hi, everyone
As you can see I am a huge Dickens fan and I am not afraid to show it. I like other writers as well such as Margaret Atwood, George Eliot and Edgar Allan Poe. I have always been a bookworm and absolutely love reading. I am in my first year of an Education Studies and English course as I want to be a Primary school teacher specialising in English. Next year I will be doing Childrens Literature (including Philip Pullman and C.S. Lewis!) as a module and I am looking forward to that.
I am married and have two children and hope to pass on my love of literature to them;) ;) :thumbs_up

Hello,
I stumbled across this site the other day, and I had to join. I was raised by two English professors, and after many years of resistance to all things literate and lovely, I have given in to the fact that a love for musty, dusty old words is my birthright.
I particularly like Elizabethan poetry and old detective novels, but I'll read nearly anything...really, anything from Hesiod to instruction manuals for objects I don't even own--I don't discriminate.

Hello all,
I joined this forum about... 20 minutes ago and Im somewhat lost but I am sure I can find my way. I am most likely one of the youngest here, I attend a High School in Manchester, England and from an early age have been fascinated with English Literature.
I lead a fairly busy lifestyle and try to cram in as much reading as possible. I enjoy Shakespeare's work, Jane austen, Gothic Novels and admittedly...the Harry Potter books (oh come on.. who doesnt?). At the moment Im addicted to a series of Romance novels by Julia Quinn which I would recommend to all as they have cheered up this sad sad geek for nights on end.
Not really much to say in all fairness... Im currently studying for my GCSE's and have opted for History, Geography and French (English lan./lit. is a core subject obviously) and Im targetted for A's/A*s (waah).
I have JUST completed my first section of English coursework on Romeo and Juliet and achieved an A* (Shut up bragging woman...). Would I be able to post that on here somewhere? Mainly so people can tell me what an amateur I am surely.
Sorry... told you Im a total dork.
Im pretty friendly, have a cracking sense of humour and I listen to punk rock/alt. rock. Not one of the most popular people in my school but I wouldn't have it any other way :)
For the future I am hoping to teach Eng Lit in higher education and lets just see where I go from there.
Thankyou for reading this terribley unarticulated (is that an actual word?) rubbish.
Anna.

My first posting!
Hello Everyone,
My name is Lauren Larue and I am posting my very first blog on this site, right now, as you are reading it, it is a first and a first and a first. I am a fashion designer living in Queens, and I am really delighted to have found this site because I miss being able to discuss books in a semi-structured setting. I have always loved creating stories and I love illustrating my favorites. As a kid I made lots of puppet shows where I wrote the story, made the characters' likenesses and invented voices for each one. As I neared the end of high school, I sort of jumped into studying fashion because I felt that I would be able to nurture the visual aspects of my creative little mind and that I could take English and other classes as a minor... Well wouldn't you know, but my school miss-processed my English AP grade and kept signing me up for the wrong classes, and never helped me fix the problem till my last year there, so I ended up not studying my favorite subject all through college, well not in class anyway. I had read what is now one of my favorite books during that period, Been Down so Long it Looks like Up to me, by Richard Farina, and like my friend Gnossos I felt that I was somewhat exempt from most troubles. I loved that book from the minute I read the first chapter in a thrift store and bought it for a dollar. The man at the register told me that he read it a long time ago, and not to be surprised if it changed my outlook. And it did.
Well anyway, enough about me, its nice to meet you all and I hope that this is the beginning of a fun and enlightening relationship without all the coodies.
love,
larue

Hey, I'm new here! I'm Kelsey. I'll be 16 in a week and a half (yay!), and am currently a sophomore in highschool. I have a strange hunder for writing. I'd love to do it for a living, and I really want to start reading more (besides Rowling and Dessen), and as I do so I find myself needing to form and share opinions on what I read...so now I'm here and I really don't have much to say at the moment. Hi!

Indroducing myself:
I call myself Sandy. I grow up in Maine, but escaping what I thought in those youthful years was dreary confinement, I began traveling for the next 25 years. I have lived in both the Northern and the Southern States. After trekking through Mexico, and ranching in Texas, we tried farming in Prince Edward Island where we raised livestock and kids. I home schooled all five of my children. My oldest is 24 and my youngest is 8. While preparing three for college, I have been working on my own degree for the past 6 years. My first love is literature, right next to history, which means reading literature is my chosen method for understanding the past. All the great cannon of works interest me, and I have passed this love of literature down to my children. We have great discussions about what we are reading. Our days are enriched with quotes, references to characters, analyzing philosophies, and critical reviews of current books. A favorite recent discovery was Henry Beston who wrote of Maine, The Northern Farm , and Cape Cod, The Outermost House . His love of nature, written with the heart of a poet and a sage, inspired me to drink deeply of the sights and sounds of life. His love of the small farming community rekindled a longing for my birthplace, so to fulfill an old dream I traveled to my birthplace this summer. My sister and I camped out on the coast of Maine, kayaked in the waves, hiked the shores, and caught up with dear old family members. I was returning full circle, back to my roots, and all that I had lost by running away. It has taken me more than 30 years cherish the meaning of home. So there it is -- a quick capsule of me.
