A little about myself: I like marital Arts, Chinese Movies, and Chinese Cooking. I consider myself a Star Wars, Star Trek Geek. I've wanted to write a novel for the longest time. There was always something missing in most movies. That is what novels provide. Thoughts an feeling of the main characters. The goal is to make a TV show or movie out of my novel. I am from New Zealand, and I am studying English via correspondence at University. I am doing Poetry at the moment which Im not so great at so am enjoying every bodies educated interpretations of it and gaining new insights to it. Umm ... Winter is approaching .. I could say its coming but thats already taken from a great series of books. I am an older student with three offspring, this is something I have always wanted to do and feel guilty for having left it so late. Oh well

I don't know if this is where I am expected to introduce myself and say Hi, but Hi. I came here to learn about choosing a translation of Dante's Comedia Divina as I am about to read it. I have been touched by the serendipity of this place as the first blog I chose, randomly, to read referred to that work.

Hi, I'm also new here (obviously). Like Samercury above, I also love languages. I can speak and read Japanese, Spanish, and some German and Russian besides English. I would also like to study ancient Greek, Sanskrit, Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew... <sigh> So many languages, so little time....
I actually don't much like poetry, but Japanese and German poetry in the original languages is great. I don't know what it is about English, but most of our poetry is not that good (IMHO). As for fiction, Paul Auster, Hermann Hesse, and most hard science fiction (not <shudder> fantasy, except for JRR Tolkien, who was a god)....
