Hi everyone, I am not a student of literature, but my wife is and I am here to just chat and ask questions when I am in the dark :)
Welcome to the site OB. Give yourself over to the dark side. :)
Hey everyone! My name is Bart (as the username sort of gives away). I'm a Dutch student of English Language & Culture, 24 currently (getting old). Considering my degree, I have to read books as you can probably imagine, and since my interest in literature is ever-increasing, I thought I'd join this forum. :) Hobbies include, besides reading of course: tennis, video games, playing the piano, singing and beer (especially Belgian beer). Some of my favourite books include The Catcher in the Rye, The Raw Shark Texts and Nooit Meer Slapen (a Dutch novel).
Looking forward to posting and reading on this forum!
Hallo en welkom, Bart. English literature and Dutch beer are refined tastes. I'm sure you will bring the site a touch of class. Please enjoy yourself here. :)
Haha, dankjewel! :) Are you Dutch/Belgian/otherwise Dutch-speaking yourself?
If I manage to bring class to anything that would be a first in my life.
Neen, ik spreek niet goed Nederlands--only enough to get myself in trouble. Ik ben Amerikaans. It's always interesting to see how close Dutch is to its English cousin, though. If you run into Kiki, she speaks Dutch (and German and French, I think). Welcome again to the site. :)
Hi all, I am a bibliophile & found this website from the free Coursera Greek & Roman Mythology course.

Welcome to the site Jakym. To looks like you'll bring some great writing here. Don't be shy about posting. Welcome again. :)
Hello to everybody
I've got a question concerning William Wordsworth. Does anybody know who was the Collins in the poet's poem Remembrance of Collins?
Hi everyone, A friend recommended I check this place out and so far, his advice has not failed me. I love reading and writing (that should be obvious) as well as lots of outdoorsy activities. I'm a graduate student in physics, which makes a lot of people question my sanity and dedication to writing. But the truth is, I chose physics to be a challenge for myself and didn't really expect to go this far with it. I'll get my degree in a few years and who knows what I'll do then. I like the research but it doesn't leave me a lot of writing time. I've always had grand ambitions, some of which I still plan to accomplish. Two of my ambitions, which I hope to realize before I graduate, are getting my motorcycle license and taking helicopter flight lessons.
Welcome Abnormalalien! :alien::alien::alien: it sounds like you have some interests that could give a valuable sense of authenticity to your fiction (if that is what you want to write). How many other writers know what happens in a physics lab, or helicopter cockpit, or on the back of a Harley? That's bound to be an advantage. In any case, welcome to the site. It's nice to have you here. :)
Hi, I'm a literature lover passionate about everything related to Victorian Age. My favorite authors are Charles Dickens, George Eliot, and Thomas Hardy (my nickname is taken from a character of his, indeed).
Welcome Elfride. You will find many who share your love for 19th century literature here. Dickens is a special favorite of many. Please enjoy yourself! :)
Hello there. My nick is Tweedledum and I have came across this site accidentally (and I looked for a book forum for quite some time.) I am now reading/writting and do some work here and there. I love to read (obvoius) fiction a lot (magic, fantasy, maybe some dystopian and SF if it is extremely good.) I have yet to built my list on goodreads (that, if I can actually remember all of the books I have read.) Now, I hope I am welcomed.
Your hope has come true, Tweedledum. You are indeed welcome. As far "extremely good" dystopian novels go, I am hearing good things about J, although I have not read it yet. Welcome again to the site and please enjoy yourself.
Hi my name is Neil , I have stumbled onto this site , just retired so have many hours to fill and reading is my favourite pastime. Looking forward to getting many ideas from here.
Hello all literature lovers. I am pleased to have found this forum
Hello literature lovers, I am pleased to be a member of this forum. Dorffi
Hello Dorffi. Welcome to the site. Please enjoy yourself! Literature lovers
My real name is Mark and I am a graduate student working on a doctorate in Reading and Literacy. I really like to read all types of books of Classic to Stephen King, but I really like reading Children's literature. I like the historical series like Little House series, Lord of the Rings series, Narnia Chronicles, etc. I have also received a Masters in Education specializing in Children's literature and I am currently trying to find spaces to publish my work. I have also worked as a licensed practical nurse for 13 years where I also worked as an activities assistant working with the geriatric population and as a substitute assistant teacher in a Head Start classroom for a few years. One day I would like to teach a course dealing with Children's literature as a therapeutic mileau.
Life is learning to accept what happens.
My name is Adam; I am a student in the David Lynch Master's in Film program this year, and for my upcoming thesis film, I have decided to adapt "The Parasite" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Thought I might register in these forums to meet some fellow Conan Doyle fans!
Hi!
I'm Carla Godfrey, I've been writing as a hobby for years and I self publish on amazon.
I love reading as well as writing.
My new novel, What Happens In Between is available for pre-order on Amazon, feel free to have a look! :)
Welcome to the site, Mark. You will find fans of all kinds of writing here, with no shortage of LOTR enthusiasts. It's nice that you found us. Please make yourself at home here and enjoy yourself.
Welcome to the site, Adam. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has plenty of friends here. I read the Holmes stories as a teenager, along with The Lost World and the other novels from that series. Hopefully now that Holmes and Watson are something of enjoying a comeback with the kids, some of the lesser known Doyle stories will become popular again. Welcome aboard in any case. Please enjoy yourself here. :)
Welcome Carla. Congratulations on your book. Hope you can stay and get to know us a little. :)
Hello Guys! How are you all?
I'm very much fond of novel & story. It is a great place for me.
Hello Christina! If you like novels and stories (and can put up with bookworms like us), then yes, this is definitely a great place for you. Welcome to the site. :)
Hi everyone!
I'm Abbey and I'm crazy about (good, engaging, thoughtful, smart) books. I am a dancer and a mountain climber and I raise horses. I'm taking my senior year in college off to read and meditate and get back to my horses before I go back to school this Fall.
My favorite books are journey and quest and magical realism oriented: Mosquito Coast, The Jaguar Hunter, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and recently, a fascinating book called "Lamonga: River of the Seven Spirits" that was given to me as a gift.
Looking forward to discussing with you all about the wonderful world of books.

Hello
New to the site. Look forward to fruitfully rewarding interaction. Favourite writers are always hard to choose but if I were constrained to do so I daresay I would pick Dickens, Austen, Hardy and Wodehouse.
Have a good day everyone.
Welcome Autodidact! It's not often finds a reader who lists both Hardy and Wodehouse as favorites, but I can appreciate the wide range of your interests. You will find fans of all of the authors you mention here. It's nice to have you with us. :)
