Fun with Dick and Jane - the trailers for this looked good but I just can't warm up to that Jim Carrey. I just heard that this was a remake I may try to catch the original those are usually better. 2.5/5
Shaun of the Dead - Some funny parts, pretty entertaining. Not much of a plot but it wasn't really needed anyways. 3.5/5
I just watched the movie from that series, Serenity, for about the 15th time and it never gets old for me. I love the series, I love the movie.Quote:

I enjoyed, if for nothing more than a lot of laughs.
Watching the original and then Scorsese's film, one observes right away Martin's talent as a director. He handles the dramatic sequences with tension and not sentimentality, which enjoy.
I think Scorsese's reign ended with The King of Comedy. Goodfellas, Goodfellas. Good film, but I like the older stuff. I think his best work was Ragging Bull. Scorsese was at his best with Schrader.

Ijazzat (Hindi) (meaning permission) -- 9/10
A movie about three people in a relation. The characters and story line is very good. Very well played by some of Indian cinema's finest actors Naseer-ud-din and Rekha.
Man of the Year by Barry Levinson.
Shows what can happen when a country, uh, like the USA,
trusts technology in the elective process.
Although a gentle film, his unique "Kundun" should be on the major-achievement list.

The next night, I completely switched gears and watched Andrei Rublev. It was quite the epic, 3 and a half hours long. I had some issues with the timeline, there were times when I was really confused about what was happening when but I really have grown fond of Tarkovsky. I like his sweeping camera angles, I love how simplistic and natural his sets are and the acting was superb. Next on my Tarkovsky list is Stalker but it's never in stock when they're sending out my movies. :rolleyes:
This afternoon, I saw Hillary and Jackie starring Emily Watson. I really like her, I think I would enjoy almost anything she was in.
I know there is a movie thread but I don't have time to go back and read the whole thing. Has anyone seen this wonderful little film, Once?
Amelie oh the beauty of a non-Hollywood movie. A wonderful film - everyone should see it.
Oddly enough, Martin Scorsese must know quality when he sees it. He is crazy over the film "The Red Shoes" and it is not a bloody hoodlum film at all, it is one of my favorite films - really wonderfully done by two British directors, Powell and Pressburger. It is sensitive and complex. For heavn's sake, it is about a ballet dancer and her presario, based on the fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson. Scorsese does the commentary on the DVD and shows his extensive collection of the film memorabilia, raving about his love for the film. I have seen the film a zillion times. So I can never fathom Scorsese's other apparent fascination with the mob/bloodbath films. The man sure is an enigma. Maybe it is the box office/public demands that drives him to make films like "The Departed".
I have no desire to see "The Departed" - although one of my librarians said it was a great film - no matter - being a librarian does not give one good taste.
Everyone who said the film is a bloodbath on Lit Net turned me off to the film. I agree with this reviewer although I have not seen it. I have seen others by him that were very bloody.
I heard of the film "Kundun" and I hope to check that one out someday, more to my liking and taste I am sure. Thanks for mentioning it, byquist.
well i watched a few movies over the weekend. Orange county, A life less ordinary, and Jane Eyre. (an odd combination but ah well!)
