Why can't people understand, and most of all accept, that it can be possible to make friends, and even lovers, online? If they are so lucky to have a real life and be satisfied with it in terms of personal relationships, why dont they leave others alone?
I was at a dinner party last night and a girl mentioned something about a girl who found a bf online... Why can't they understand that we're not weirdos but just people who share interests and through that can get really close? Sure it's not the same as in real life, and getting a lover that way can be problematic, but it's not like we're all mad people in random chatrooms asking are-u-male-or-female and can-you-send-me-ur-pic all the time... we talk, we share, relationships of closeness can be built... and sometimes take far away...is it so wrong? I dont want to have to hide for all my life the fact that I enjoy to meet people online because not always in real life I find those who can share my interests and points of view...or just because I like to write to people...
In Hungary I realised that real life can be as fun, and now i have much less problems in meeting new people... but still, I can't help enjoying my online friends and sometimes even meet them... but I usually keep all this as secret as I can to people I know, cos they'd look down on me in such a way...is it so wrong? :(

Been there, done that :lol: :nod:. So one of us is that mad :brow:... Had to say I was bored pretty soon. It was like going to a bar and only talking to guys with just one thought on their minds.. Who can not even articulate this one thought beautifully :rage:. Haha.

Seriously: I actually think you can learn a lot about people just by reading the sentences they write, the style they choose and the subjects they 'talk' about. It can give me a feeling of closeness that I don't have that much in so-called 'real' life. It does not replace my other relationships.. but it does give me friendships I value a great deal.

so then what we need to understand isn't so much a random enchantment of our interests, but an evanescent quality of desintigration - an everpressent time capsule which pervades our ever feeling as we spiral deeper into this intense feeling of compassion towards the quasimodos of our day.

Something that should never seem a random thought: avoid poetry.com, for honesty's sake!
Yesterday, I spent some time with my younger brother. I never knew he wrote poetry, but he handed me a very familiar letter from poetry.com, reporting that he earned a position as a semi-finalist in their poetry competition. For long, I have known the scam, and, before then, fell for it myself, having once received the precise letter. My brother felt extremely proud, smiling lots, and nearly bragging; needless to say, I felt horrible to tell him the truth, though he did not feel too crestfallen, and the poem, I told him, read impressively well, regardless.

How shocking this morning.
I woke abnormally early this morning, not quite having the ability to sleep, so I crawled out of bed, played some classical music, and picked up my book, Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, to read for a while.
My apartment overlooks a relatively busy road, and, having lived in the city for so long, I have adapted to the sound, but I heard a loud screeeeeech, crash! I ran out on my balcony, seeing two cars totalled, beyond repair, dialed 911, and told the dispatcher the necessities.
Luckily, no one seemed hurt, other than looking very frightened, but, after making the phone call, having a bird's-eye view of the event seemed really interesting - everyone's reactions, what the nearby cars did in response (many stopped to help, and a few, I think, also called 911), and, still, how kind and forgiving the two people in the cars interacted.
Fortunately, this always seeming a busy road, emergency services arrived very quickly, though no one looked physically harmed.

thank goodness they were okay! what a fortunate ending to a scary event.


my radio was turned on by a friend this morning, and it was too loud for me to sleep, but i was too tired to turn it off. and then, when i thought i couldn't take it anymore, but knew i couldn't possibly move, it lowered its volume by itself! how fortuitous was that?!

i don't understand :confused:

if it is known that a basement on campus harbors roaches the size of one's outspread hand - or at least the thumb (i am not exagerating) - wouldn't the school invest in borax or something??? halfway through my physio exam, scurrying on the floor caught my eye and i, traumatized, gasped in air with such inarticulate force (& cave-person-like gasps) and clung so dearly to my lab stool that my fellow classmates thought i was having a medical emergency - and i was still shaking a half-hour later!!!

okay, but it wasn't funny then. and i was so scared! and whywhywhy? we aren't down south where i'd expect a palmetto bug or two to be overly neighborly and forward. and why a kinesiology building? why not the cafeteria? (perish that thought, though...)

bugs that annoy do nothing but destroy as we lift the depression off our lives and are left with superficiallity. I'm doing fine and did you see the new movie and go to the grocery store where i saw such a cute dog.

Yesterday, I happened to forget my cell phone somewhere, and did not have it for most of the day. Truly, I enjoy receiving phone calls from friends and family, but it felt somewhat pleasant yet alarming simultaneously. The fact surprised me how attached much of modern humankind has gotten to technology over time; my cell phone seems a relatively simple one, as opposed to recent ones - no camera, text-messaging, etc., but only having the ability to call people and receive calls. How would the world seem without telephones, stereo, television, Internet, and computers, as things seemed before the time of their inventors.
Not surprisingly, I felt strangely uncomfortable without my cell phone, and missed a few calls, but it certainly helped me notice attached we have evolved toward what we have created.
