Oh my, that was the saddest movie I have ever seen. :( The only movie that could counter it in that was Edward Scissorhands...

That movie was OK but Dragonheart was much, much, better. Starting from the voice of Sean Connery and finishing with incredible special effects...
Oh... Yeah!!! I really don't compare movies...usually each one is unique unto itself....but I do love Dragonheart....Sean Is 'The Man'.....haven't seen it in awhile tho...must put it on my 'must see again' list...Thanks! Yeah...Draco in the night sky....

Summary: A spacy long-haird art instructor named Anna, who dresses in form-fitting, lowcut sweaters and tight-fitting dresses gets fired from her teaching post and takes a job as a nanny. But for some reason, she sleeps with the principal after he cans her (apparently - that's what the movie seems to suggest). The principal goes on to set her up with the nanny job (I guess to pay back the favor?) and she goes to the interview in her best form-fitting, low-cut sweater and skirt ensemble and gets hired on the spot.
The children Anna is paid to care for are orphans and their wealthy uncle provides for them. She goes to live in his spooky mansion with the children, (Flora and Miles). Miles is away at a boarding school, but quickly joins his sister and Anna and Ms. Gross (who is the uncle's secretary/household manager) after he is expelled from yet another school.
At once strange things happen. Anna sees a strange man outside the window and finds out the previous Nanny drowned in the pond nearby. All the while, the children seem to be up to mischief or worse.
And that's all I know. Anna walks around in a half-open bathrobe a lot, has flashbacks to her childhood, goes through Ms. Gross' panty drawer and finds a picture of the strange man she saw outside the window, has a strange relationship with Ms. Gross, sits in the tub a lot, and is startled while sitting in the tub and has to stand up abrubtly.
The ending was as incoherent as the rest of the movie and when it was over, I wasn't sure what happened at all. The point of the movie may have been to leave the viewer wondering whether it's a ghost story at all, or just a story about a crazy person, but I am thinking maybe they meant for Anna's character to be stark-raving mad. Whatever the case, it was 2 hours of my time that I will never get back. The best part was reading this review of it afterward, trying to figure out what just happened:

That's funny, seeing as how Henry James's Turn of the Screw (which this seems, by all appearances, to be vaguely based on, considering the very similar plot and identical names) shares this weird ambiguity. I've not heard of this adaptation, though I've seen a few others; perhaps I'll have to look into it. But then, in light of your review, maybe not...Quote:

Watched Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa last night. This is ofcourse a classic movie that can be rated only by 10/10, the first and still the best '' action movie'' ever made. The movie is an epic tale of friendship and courage,the characters are all memorable and you bond easily with them. Everything about this movie says it is made by people who loved doing it every step of the way. That combined with the considerable talent of director Kurosawa makes this a classic masterpiece.
