Did you have acne before? My son who is 16 has a really bad case. We are going to see a dermatologist. He's had some amazingly huge ones. He had one just inside his nose that actually distended his nostril. He'll call me in and announce a new one in this really deadpan voice and then we just gaze at it.
Does the lye really work? Or the noxema?

I'm really bad at remembering to cleanse and tone and all that stuff :p. I get blackheads more than anything :sick: but I can use pore cleansing strips for those :D.
Have any of you thought of tea tree oil?
I am incredibly lucky in that I very rarley get any spots on my face, instead 90% of my zits turn up on my scalp which is good but also means that occasionally they burst when Im brushing my hair ( just after Ive had a shower ) which means I have to wash my hair again, and this always seems to happen when Im in a rush.
tea tree oil is magic stuff though, except it cause things to burst on their own in the night.
Ive got gaping pores thugh which Im not sure how to get rid of.
I never tried that, but years ago I went to this reenactment. I was looking at this woman's lye soap that she made. She told me that one of the benefits to using lye soap is that it clears acne. I didn't feel like trying that, though. :)Quote:

Have you ever used one of those mud masks, or something similar? I use a different type of mask every few days, and I also use a scrub every few days when I wash my face. That seemed to help me. Whenever I got into a phase where I was too tired to bother with a mask, my pores seemed to get bigger. When I would start to get back into the swing of things again with the masks, that would always help. For me, though, I have to make sure that I am faithful with the masks or my skin ends up the same way it was before pretty fast.Quote:

I use Noxema to wash my face. It works, cause down here in the Tropics, with our hot climate, it helps to cool my skin.
I've used it myself and I have friends and family who used it and we all found the same thing- it works really really well for the first while and then stops working. I find that I break out really badly when I'm on my period as well, and it couldn't stop those breakouts. Oh, and don't let it get on your clothing/towels because it bleaches.Quote:

I've had acne for years, and it's not the worst case of seen, just enough to be a big pain in my @$$ and make me self-conscious about it. I've tried a ton of different stuff- cleansers and pads and strips and pro-active. I find what's working the best is products from Lush, which is a company that makes fresh, handmade cosmetics. They're made of fruits and vegetables and natural oils and all good stuff that is so fresh it comes with an expiry date. I swear by their stuff- all my cosmetics and bath products are being switched to Lush products.
Oh, and for those who were asking, it is bad to pop zits because while it does push everything out of the pore, it spreads the bacteria to the surrounding pores which in turn makes things worse. It's a big problem for me because I have busy hands and I'm always touching something and if I'm bored or stressed, I touch my face more. It's just all around bad. I can't resist popping though.
I always recommend Noxzema to people who have a sunburn because it seems to cool the skin. It seems to be very soothing when I put it on the burnt skin.Quote:

I use a clay mask on my face on a weekly basis. I think it's beneficial. Interestingly enough I used Noxema when I was younger. I didn't wash with it, but I used it for a moisturizer. I found it worked really well, and my skin was fairly clear at that point. Maybe it helped.
I got my eyebrows waxed yesterday. I've probably asked this before, and I've probably been told, but does waxing eventually lead to diminished hairgrowth? Because I don't want to be one of those little old ladies who has no eyebrows. But, I have a feeling that no matter what I do, I'm going to have increased hair growth on the upper lip, and diminished growth of the eyebrows and hair on my head. And my nose hair and nose will get larger as will my ears. My eyesight will get worse, and I won't know that I have lipstick on my teeth.
But, I digress.
why do some older women have NO eyebrows? ist it because they overwaxed or got lousy electrolysis or does it just stop growing there on women? Because I've seen some old men with major eyebrows...
