Speaking of Sin City, I didn't like it, either, but I don't see much resemblance to 300.
Atmosphere IS subjective. People can see the same movie and one is going to be trilled and the other is going to be "that didn't make any sense" and the third will be "It was soooo predictable" (regular reactions on Videodrome, by the way). How do you explain that? Intellect? Attentiveness? Education?
And whenever I heard Cronenberg compared to Lynch it was "Cronenberg is OK, but compared to Lynch he just sucks". I prefer not to compare them, I think they are totally different directors.
How is 300 crappier than any other action movie? Just because it's popular? It got overrated, but it's just another action movie. A little worse than some a little better than some, nothing special, but nothing too bad, either.
Yeah, I guess I will rewatch it someday, it was supposed to be my rule, after all. I'm too slow on movies, I have to watch them twice.
I was comparing the level of relative popularity, not the movies themselves. Among "arthouse" communities, Mulholland Drive is as big as 300.
Some action movies are well directed (EG Terminator 1 and 2)...300 isn't. Check out the oracle scene, the nauseous slow motion shots and the pathetic acting...The thing is people are saying it's a masterpiece when it's only an overhyped B action movie.
Concerning the film's popularity, you pointed out that Mulholland drive got an 8 on imdb. 300 got 8.1 but that's not what's interesting, if you look at the number of people who've voted to rank the films 300 has nearly 120 000 votes while Mulholland Drive, despite being five years older, only has 60 000 votes. I think that shows the two films don't have the same audiences.
Pretty good documentary about a great writer but not the best. If you're interested in documentaries you should watch Tarnation and Grizzly Man. Check out the links.

The last movie I watched in theaters was 300 (shows how much I go to the movies). It was awesome!!!! I've only dreamed about movies like this! This movie definately surpasses any other movie set in the ancient world.
There you are, Mark F. Some people like the way it was made.
"I think that shows the two films don't have the same audiences." That is what I am saying. In relation to their audiences, the movies have equally high popularity.
Last time I went to a cinema was Pirates of the Carribean 2. I don't like cinemas.
Sorry I must have misunderstood your post, I thought you meant "arthouse" communities liked 300 as much as Mulholland Drive.
Mickyboo and Me.
An Irish movie; quite pathetic and sturggling to be dramatic movie. But since everything seems so fake it's getting boring and pitiable.
5/10.
the last movie i saw that is decently new was "Bridge to Terabithia" i would rate it like a 5 star no doubt! you have to see it. it is one of those kind of movies! go and get it and watch it!
Last film I saw;
Die Hard 4.0
Thought it was great.
