LOL, Larry is gonna need to take a walk in the woods after all of this journey is over...
Unfortunately Larry accidentally got left behind for the trip to the Huntington yesterday, but we made up for it today when I ended up going to see a friend for lunch in Los Angeles. First he got a little tour of the UCLA campus. Here's Larry by Royce Hall:

...and both outside and inside the Powell Library:

After seeing UCLA we walked down to Westwood where Larry posed by the historic Fox Theatre, which has been the site of many glamorous movie premieres for about seventy years:

He also posed by a California Pizza Kitchen:

...but he opted for another popular California meal instead--Sushi:

Finally in the evening we ended up doing some shopping on Rodeo Drive. Larry wanted to go on a shopping spree in all the most expensive stores, but luckily he left his credit card back in Dublin:

It's only getting worse! On Rodeo Dr. today he bought this ridiculous silk sleeping mask, and now he's told me to keep everything quiet because he needs his beauty rest:Quote:
Oh God. I thought I had instilled in Larry some New York values. I see he's all of a sudden gone Hollywood.

I haven't tried loading pics on myself yet, but the ones you and Virg. took show up fine.
I'm not sure if he'll make Christmas or not, especially because the mail is bound to be congested if I try to send him out late next week close to the holidays. There might also be less chance of him getting lost if I don't attempt to send him just a few days before Christmas. The good news is that it looks like Disneyland may definitely be on for next week. Then we'll play it by ear as to a good time to ship him.
Well, I figured no one could actually dislike Ventura. It's true that cities in general have their downsides (as someone who just recently emerged from the hell that is L.A. traffic in the late rush hour, I can firmly attest to this). I agree with you that the ocean is the truly great thing about California. :)Quote:
Note to everyone who is disturbed by my comments about Ventura- I wasn't putting Ventura down, I really do like Ventura, I was putting down big cities. And Ventura is messy but I LOVE the ocean and I LOVE watching the sunset on the beach and seeing the islands on clear days. I love sailing on the deep blue sea and seeing dolphins jump along side the boat. That is what I love about California, not the cities. So, I apologize to city of Ventura and all those who know it's a wonderful city.
I love that Larry is on top of the Literary Criticism shelf in the library! That's great. :D
And that sleeping mask . . . how did you do that?!
yeah i thought that was great as well!
But Petra, you cracked me up with the eye mask!
And yes, there was a good reason why i didnt give him a C/C card!:p
What is larry bringing with him in terms of baggage? Troll brought a book as far as i remember?
there is his diary, a disc for photos and emm... was there something else?
Californiaq pizza. I should have taken him to a New York pizzaria. Actually I should have taken him to Little Italy and had the best Italian meal one can have outside of Italy. ;)
Sushi??? Leprechuans don't eat sushi. You're going to get him sick. ;)Quote:

That looks like he's in bed with you. Are you sleeping with Larry? What a naughty, lucky Leprechuan. And what kind of blindfold games are you playing in bed with him? :p   :DQuote:

  Virgil!!!!
Virge, you dirty old man, what was the value of that comment except it's shock value? (in-joke :) )
that sushi looks delicious (of course, I'm a veggie and I've got no idea what it tastes like  ;) )
what's the temperature in Cali at the moment?
I was gonna say it looked like he was tied up, too Virgil, did you notice that?

Being a literary leprechaun, he was of course drawn to the lit. crit. The sleep mask once belonged to one of my dolls (since I stay in my childhood room at home in CA I thought I'd dig out some old miniature accessories from the back of the closet for Larry's use while here). It also came with a matching robe that unfortunately didn't fit.Quote:

Goodness Virgil and B-Mental! You sound like those adolescent college students who try to disrupt the class by saying things calculated to shock the teacher. And to think just last night I was telling my brother and parents--who were curious about the origins of their leprechaun houseguest--what nice and respectable people there are on Lit. Net. Larry has been sleeping in the guest room, is slumbering as innocently as any child in the picture in question, is not tied up in any way, and has comported himself like a perfect--if occasionally tipsy--gentleman. :D
 Come to think of it, I should have given him some Chicago style pizza. We Californians can't make any reasonable pizza claims to fame, but I suspect some Chicago places could give New York a decent run for its money. ;)Quote:

 This leprechaun loved sushi. Indeed, he barely left enough for my friend and I to sample, and no sign of a tummy ache. :)Quote:

Larry went out to a play and a nice Mexican food meal last night. I'm uploading and organizing the pictures now and will post them in a bit. :)
