im glad you liked it north star...I've watched it bunches of times and don't get tired of it. I have so fallen in love with the show too, the voice.
I was a high school kid when queen was hitting it big; many of their albums and songs were a happy part of our lives.
I just started a WWII history book, citizen soldiers by Stephen ambrose, and im really enjoying it.
tyrion---how do you have frozen pipes? that is, where is the frozen culprit, whats the source?
im ill-equipped to answer the jazz question, so i'll pass it along:
Jazz from before 1959 or after 1960?
-
Oh, man. The issue here for me is the definition of 'jazz', since there are many styles. If you mean pure jazz, then definitely before 1959. There is no substitute for those early albums by Miles Davis, Coltrane, etc. (long list) But in my life I have been a big fan of music that may sound more modern because of the use of electric guitars and such, and because it is incorporated in with other genres like rock and blues (I'm talking fusion, for example), and that stuff all came later. So mainly, for me, I'm going with post-1960.
Raise your hand if you were lucky enough to see Queen live with Freddie? <raises hand> Yes, I'm just that cool.
Dried mixed fruit or raisins?
-
didn't ever see queen in concert, ive not been to many, but I did see springsteen and my goodness what a show.
that's a toughie, I love raisins, all by themselves, or with big gobs of peanut butter, and they are about the best thing to put on a green salad (after onions and tons of croutons!) but boy its hard to pass up dried apricots, and dates and papaya and apples and whatever else in the dried mix. so slight lean there.
your favorite Chinese meal or your favorite Italian meal or your favorite Mexican meal?
-
I am torn between Chineese or Italian but I think I would go with favorite Italian meal.

Thunderstorm or Snowstorm?
-
I'm going to say thunderstorm, because although they can be scary, they don't dump five feet of snow on you which buries you alive for some days. Or weeks. Or months, as the case may be.
If you must consume one item with dangerously high levels of refined sugar or high fructose corn syrup, and your choices are a soft drink like Coke or sugary donuts and such, which is it?

Hobby genre: Collecting comic books or coins ?
-
Comic books, 'cause that has street cred these days--so much that a girl might even think I'm hip. Coins, on the other hand, well that's just one step away from trainspotting.
As a pastime, watching old black and white educational films in which an eager young kid in a button down shirt and a crew cut learns about being an engineer from his suspiciously unmarried neighbor Mr. Matthews, or stabbing yourself in the tonsils with a protractor?
-
the former at least reminds me of a skit that the guys on whose line is it anyways used to do. i'll go with that one.
the original mony mony by tommy james and the shondells or the remake by billy idol?
-
<groan> If I have to listen to that gonad biting cacophony, it'll be the Billy Idol version.
Listening to Mony Mony or hurling yourself off an overpass in time to let an approaching eighteen wheeler laden with depleted uranium flatten you a like post-apocalyptic pancake? I know which I'd choose.
-
Listen to Mony mony.
Never read again or only read in uncomfortable chairs?
-
Only read in uncomfortable chairs. Heavens.
Live in an America now populated mostly by people in their 80s, or do an Olympic gold medal winning swan dive into a wood chipper? I know which I'd choose.
-
Live in America populated by elderly.
Sparkling water or flat?
-
Flat, and live a little, Tony. Gripe about old people.
Injure your elbow lifting weights, as I just did, apparently, or have something delicious to eat after your workout, as I'm about to?
-
Injured elbow. Builds toughness and character.
The left or the right? (Anything)
