My aunt had one recently also. I was talking to a plastic surgeons office about another procedure (for someone else) and my question was whether or not it could be covered by insurance. She said no, and then she went on to say that insurance does not even cover breast reductions (augmentations).

the procedure I was asking about was someone who had been terribly obese and had loose skin as a result... Insurance won't cover the plastic surgery needed to get rid of that loose ropey skin.

But, I have heard of someone (my mom knew her) who had been to a psychologist over body image issues and was able to get breast surgery with a referrel from the psychologist, and insurance covered it. So, if that person was able to get at least part of it paid for through her normal health insurance (that she pays premiums on anyway), why couldn't someone who needs a breast reduction get the procedure and have their insurance cover it? It's not cosmetic and it's not a self-esteem issue. It's a physical pain issue. I am sick of insurance here. Something is wrong.

If you happen to be someone who wears a 32DD for example, you have to go to an upscale department store, because Wal-Mart and Target and even JC Penney don't seem to carry those sizes. They might start at band size 34, and then good luck finding the cup size you need. And it's the same story for larger sizes as well. Cup sizes don't go beyond a DD.

Dillards is the best department store (here anyway) for finding bras in the right size. They're selection is okay. Mainly they just have the standard back hook seamed bra in a good selection of colors.

:nod: I believe that you can get breast reductions done the NHS, if either they are deemed health risk or you can get a psychologist's referral. But they wont do them until the girl is 21 at the very earliest. I know a 12 year old who wears a size DD but she has to wait untl shes 21 to get the breast reduction done because she is still growing... but by hat time she will already have back problems...

nursing bras come in J cups and they are very supportive, but not sexy.

I’ve seen breast reduction that turned out beautiful, but I also know three different women who regret the surgery because of the terrible shape they were left with. I’ve considered reduction since I was in the eighth grade, but wanted to wait until I was done nursing babies. It can be detrimental to breastfeeding. They have to remove the nipple and resize it for the smaller breast. It was harder to be busty in school than it is now for some reason. As for back pain, I would recommend back strengthening exercises to see if that will help. It helped me.

Yeah, and that's just ridiculous! I mean, when the size is 70, C cup isn't even that big. It's exactly the same than 75B or 80A, which are completely normal sizes! It just means that the cup is bigger when you compare it to the band. An 80C is much bigger than a 70C.

Can someone tell me a home remedy for doing a pedicure? My feet are ugly and I am too shy to show to anybody; besides I feel awkward if someone touches my feet.

(this is how I take care of my feet --- I've had a professional pedicure twice in my life and this person used cuticle nippers for skin stuff around my toenails, but I don't have much of a problem with that, so I don't do it at home)


Supplies Needed:
1) baby oil (or some other kind of oil)
2) toenail clippers or scissors
3) foot file or pumice stone
4) soap
5) vicks vapo-rub
6) socks
7) base coat nail polish
8) nail polish (color of your choice)
9) top coat
10) Rapid Dry spray nail polish dryer
11) Toe Separators (tissue works too)
12) Nail File

Fill your tub up with hot sudsy water (or at least enough to soak your feet in) and add baby oil (or other oil of your choice - lately I've been using Skin So Soft because someone gave me some). Soak your feet for a while (as long you feel necessary). This softens and conditions the skin and the toe nails.

After you've soaked your feet in the hot water, you can use a foot file or pumice stone to rub any hard calloused skin off the bottom of your feet. This would also be a good time to clip and file (shape) your toe nails because they'll be softer from the hot water and oil.

After you've clipped and filed your toe nails, you can dry your feet with a towel and they should be soft and conditioned from the hot water and oil.

Put the toe separators between each toe, and apply the clear base coat to your toes. Let it dry. Then apply the colored nail polish and allow it to dry suffiently. Then apply the clear top coat, which should preserve your polish and keep it from chipping off for a few days longer. Then I like to use the rapid dry polish spray after all the coats have been applied. This drys the paint faster and helps with smudging etc...

If you've gotten any nail polish on your toes, you can dip a wood cutilcle stick in nail polish remover, and use that to remove any spots of polish.

At this point you should be done with a home pedicure sans cutilcle nipping (I've heard it's best to leave that to the professionals).

You're probably wondering what the vicks vapo rub and socks are for. Vicks Vapo Rub is a home remedy for toe nail fungus. I don't have toe nail fungus, but I smear it on my toe nails and feet occasionally before bed. I put some socks on to keep that stuff from getting all over the sheets. I'm convinced it keeps any fungi at bay (especially when I went to the salon for my pedicure --- I'm so afraid of those tubs. I just know there are fungi in the water jets). Even if it doesn't do anything for toe nail fungus, it does soften my feet without use of the pumice stone every few days. Someone at work rubs vasoline on her feet and covers them with socks before bed. Burts Bees sells this awesome smelling coconut foot cream and socks, and I've used it before. It smells much better than Vicks Vapo Rub or Vaseline, but it softens about the same.

Well, Madhuri was asking and I was just telling her my quick fix for it. I don't know where you live, but it's still warm enough here to show my toes, and I think it's probably warm enough where Madhuri lives too, so it's okay to take care of your feet even after Labor Day :D

HUmm I might have to try this, my sister is at college doing beauty therpy and her pedicurexam is coming up, but she wont practice because she hates it..she gave me a nice manicure though.

But changing the subject again, to one that might be ther icky to some... but its not exactly like I can go around asking people in RL, for some reason, you knowhow you have reusable nappies for babies? Are there any such things as reusable period pads?

Well actually I know there are some reusable scary looking cup things ... they had some things at Freshers fair, and there was aguy who tried to grab one becuse he thought it was a 'freebie' which it wast and then was annoyed whan the woman on the stall said he wouldnt need one but went absaloutly green when she told him what it was.
But maybe what I mean is - are they any good?

I've heard of those. Sounds repulsive. I've never tried it, and I've never known anyone who has.

Apparently they aren't that good, the cup requires a lot of cleaning (obviously) and when you take it out you pretty much spill it most of the time, then if you are out and need to empty it....well, messy!
