I haven't logged on to this forum since I signed up in 2005. I'm sure I never introduced myself. I am a middle-aged teacher of teenagers. I work in a one-room high school, teaching all subjects. I have a mathematics and biology ( BS in Wildlife Biology, minor in math; MS in Range Management)background from college, but fell in love with teaching. Literature has become a passion, especially sharing good literature with my students. Other that my work and my family (husband, three grown sons) my loves are my Basset Hound, Annabelle; my goose, Edith; my two Guinea pigs, Lucille and Rosie, and my flock of laying hens. Books, kids, animals - that's about it. My dream is to have a couple of Scottish highland cattle and a small flock of sheep. Oh yeah, I am a compulisve knitter.

Hello... I'm Elissa, I'm 16 and this June, I'll be in 1st year college. My course is Comparative Literature, specifically European Literature (and my sis is killing me for not being more 'patriotic' xP). Anyway, I write some stories on my free time, read books (I'm currently on The Count of Monte Cristo).

Well, hello everybody. I'm 17, a junior in high school and can't wait to be done with it. I Love to read, I always have. I just finished reading "A Streecar Named Desire". I usually hate reading plays, but I liked this one. I just saw the movie too--loved it. (But I'm a sucker for vivien leigh...and hot young marlon brando). I play tennis, snowboard, try to run...don't have enough motivation, though I wish I did.
Jack Kerouac is my hero; I love the beat age. On the Road, Naked Lunch, Howl and some other Ginsberg poems, and half of the Dharma Bums are all I've read so far.
I have no idea what I want to do when I get out of high school. Go to college for sure. The only other thing I know is that I do NOT want to be in debt afterwards like my sister is. I want to be able to be free afterwards. I pretty much just want to travel around, live in Paris, Rio, anywhere, and write. Thats pretty much my passon. So there you go, me in a nutshell.

Hi, Wow there are some really interesting people on here. I joined to try and find some answers for my daughter about a Leonid Andreyev play called The Serpents Tale ( We have no idea what the character is talking about. Do you ?). Anyway I am glad I did. I like to read a variety of genres and authors but my favourites would be Kurt Vonnegut and Gabrielle Garcia Marquez. (did I spell that correctly) Nothing alike I know, but for me it is not about the style more how the book makes me feel.

I joined some time ago, but this is my first post.

I'm 20, halfway thru London Uni External Programme BA in English, hated books till I was about 10 - wasted time, because now there's this feeling that there's not enough time to just read! At the moment, just started Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club.

@fozta: It's Gabriel... the masculine form. :) My sis is totally into his works! She just finished 100 Years in Solitude and is eyeing Of Love and Other Demons. As for me, I only read his short story, A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings.

@tyeness: I am currently into Amy Tan's The Kitchen God's Wife. I must say I am still overwhelmed with the story and I find it hard to finish it! The sufferings and hardship portrayed there... o.o
