blind date
yesterday was the first day that spritzer saw the new homeless cat danik, and unfortunately, she chased him away. that's going to make it tough to lure him inside this winter. I fed him this morning and while I was sitting close by, momma deer came up enquiring what was in the bowl and effectively chased him away. I went inside to grab some peas for the deer and moved the cat food bowl to another place. I haven't found a name for him yet. he's a long-haired fellow with beautiful grey fur.

Cats initially chasing away newcomers seems to be usual, but after a while they get used to them and admit them in "their" territory. Maybe you feed them at the same time not to near of each other and observe them. Spritzer will know that you'll go on loving and feeding her even if the company is larger. I think the question mark is Moma deer, who is probably afraid for her baby.

i hadn't seen homeless cat 2.0 for a couple of days until just a little bit ago danik. i got home late and it was mostly dark. went in the house to let spritzer out and to bring some things in, went back to the car to get more and poof, there he was.
unfortunately spritzer made her way over to where 2.0 was eating and maybe chased him away again before he was through.

Spritzer is defending her territory against the intruder, bounty. She is afraid of loosing all she has conquered:you, food and a home. But this feeling probably will pass , when she perceives that you take care equally of both of them.

some of it might be that danik but at the same time, theres another cat who sometimes comes around and spritzer doesn't chase him away.
I fed homeless 2.0 (a name for him still hasn't appeared) yesterday late afternoon and he's getting more comfortable with my proximity.
heres an internet photo that's pretty close:

he is indeed a handsome fellow yes. I didn't see him yesterday and I looked bunches of times throughout the day.
spritzer is homeless cat 1.0. the other cat I mentioned above belongs to one of my neighbors and no ive never fed him. your thinking its the presence of food/eating that triggers the territorial aggression?
language barrier
That´s very possible. The other cat is not homeless so probably doesn´t represent a menace. Try feeding both cats at the same time, but not to near of each other. Spritzer must feel that she is not going to be substituted by the new cat. But maybe 2.0 has a home, if he looks as groomed as the cat on the picture.

danik I think you might be thinking spritzers an outdoor cat? I lured her inside a couple of years ago. and just now the snows starting to fly and I started feeding the birds again, so she's inside all the time.
there is another cat around that I caught a glimpse of a few days ago and I assume the horrific racket I heard last night at 1 in the morning was either homeless cat 2.0 and the glimpse cat, or homeless cat 2.0 and a raccoon.
I fed him this morning and he hung out for a little bit afterwards and im thinking he might be starting to sleep under my house.
