Hello everyone
Hi, I'm Rhonda. I live in Independence, MO. I am a nurse, but I don't work with patients, I work with their charts. I've never met the people who are in my company, but I've worked from home since 2008, and I travel.
I knit, and I read. I own a Nook color and a Kindle, but my most favorite author, (which is an odd obsession) is for the most part, not allowed on either devise. He is too good for that. I am 50 years old. I travel alot for my job. I just spent nearly a month in Albuquerque.
I didn't start reading Kerouac until I turned about 20. It was 1981...so it started. At 24, I went to New Orleans cause of that book. When I was 25 (I looked about 12), I made my mom and stepdad who took me to the mountains in Colorado, they had to stop in Denver so I could walk down Larimer street. I wasn't aware he was dead, until I decided to write him a fan letter, and glanced in the information part of the book. By that time, I had read almost everything he wrote.
This goes on and on, and now I travel with my work. When I went to Albuquerque, I had to go to Taos, cause of Kerouac. I had to go into Santa Fe. I missed Las cruces, but I saw the exit to it. I am leaving for San Antonio on Sunday. If I'm there for a week, I will certainly go to the college museum in Austin. Some of his work is there. I've not seen the original scroll yet. I will eventually....I heard my work is sending people to Massachusetts. ...granted I read alot of authors, but I have the book The Beat Atlas, and that's the one who's affected my life the most. Not just him, but mostly.
I AM elemental and complex just like every one of us here.
Hi, I'm Jessica and I'm new. ^_^
Howdy ;)
Salutations, friends. My name is Evan. I love mathematics and literature; namely, number theory and minimalism. Also, I love depressing stories.
I just signed up for this forum today, and I'm pretty excited. I use this site a lot for help with research on papers, and never once noticed that this was here. So Yay! Let's see, I'm about to graduate with an English degree, and I'm hoping to get into the Teach For America program that I've been hearing wonderful things about. I don't really have time for hobbies since I'm a full-time student and I work full time. I'm 27, about to turn 28 this year. I have no children and recently became engaged. :blush5:
Hello fellow Lovers of Literature. My name is Mona Marlow - not really - but it's what we'll go with for now. I was directed to this site during my research and I found it too difficult to leave. This site seems like a great resource. I look forward to communicating with all of you in the future.
I am an amateur writer - meaning only that I have yet to publish my work. Currently - amoung other things - I am working on a collection of short stories that depict the romanticism of childhood innocence and the loss of said innocence. I am always looking for reading material that will expand my mind and vocabulary on this topic.
I am a collector of new words - as nothing is worth reading if it does not leave you with something you didn't have before. The walls around me are covered in "sticky notes" - filled with words I love. If you have a new word for me - I am waiting anxiously! :)

There's nothing like a good book and a warm blanket in a thunderstorm.
Looking forward to being a part of the community.
Hello everyone, nice to see so many intelligent people excited to talk about literature.
I am a 23-year-old English MA student living in Canada. I like all kinds of books but I'm mainly interested in American Gothic and 19th and 20th century American detective fiction. Currently I'm working my way through the novels of Thomas Harris.
Right now I'm completing the final course for my degree and working part-time as a server until I start my PhD in the fall.
hello everyone. this is all new to me and i hope i'm introducing myself. my name is Wannadance and i'm mostly interested in history and biographies.

Hello all,
I have tried for more years than I care to remember to organize a discussion group for literature and philosophy. Alas, no noteable success. I don't know why I never thought to try online until now... At any rate, here I am, eager to meet any and all fellow afficionados of language and thought.

Hello :) I'm looking forward to discussing literature with you!!
Hello all! I'm passing through to simply ask for some help, if you wish to, please refer to my topic in the Virginia Woolf subforum :D However the more I look around, the more I like it here, and if my desperate pleas are answered I may well stick around! :D Even the colour scheme is welcoming, and I too look forward to becoming a part of this community when I have the chance!

Hi all! Its nice to try something new! I am very happy to have found this site and I am very interested in getting to know everyone here!
Hey,
I am so very excited to have found this website a couple of hours ago. I was impressed with a blog I saw written by a teenager, so I had to check out this network. I realized that it was a community I could join which makes it all the better.
For those who care to know, I am a teenager. And as most of you know and have experienced, this is a pretty hectic time of life. I do a lot of thinking and think it will be good to put my thoughts into writing. As for hobbies, I do not really have a particular favorite, but I do love to listen to music and lie in the sun and tan. I am also involved in a lot of sports activities which keeps me pretty busy. I love to meet new people and learn about their life stories (in a non creepy way of course :) )
Neways, I would love to get feedback or messages about my future posts!
Thanks for taking the time to read this~

Hello this is Dimitris from Greece.
I'm a high school teacher with many interests, including spearfishing, solar energy, piano, rc airplanes, etc. I like short stories, I find them very fun to read and kind of easier to develop (I like a a moody plot with an interesting twist at the end).
In this forum I aim to mostly stay out of the way and just read others, since English is not my mother tongue. However I will try to create something in English, and you tell me what you think.
Its nice to be here,
Dimitris

I'm looking to find people with whom I can discuss literature. I love classics, and I was hoping this would be a good place to rediscover my favorites. I have just graduated and am now on my way to graduate school where I plan to get a Masters in Anthropology. I hope I can find other members here that are free thinkers, slightly sarcastic, and love to read as much as I do.

I am very new indeed to posting on line so I hope I clicked the right button. I am a storyteller, actress, educator all at the same time. That is to say some portion of all of my hats, including my music (vocal and instrumental), seem to be a part of all that I do. I live in Knoxville, TN and my name is Linda Upton Hill. I am a member of The Carpetbag Theatre, Inc. of Knoxville. My son's are grown now and empty nest is still a little tricky. I have begun my studies to become a certified educator, so finding this site is a God send. I do not know if the way to ask a question for everyone to see and offer feedback is only here or by clicking the 'start a new thread' button. Someone please advise me on that point. Well, here I go--stepping off a bit-of-a personal cliff,:seeya: out of my comfort zone of familiar ways to join in. Thank you for the warmth and welcome I have found so far.
Sincerely,
Tale Teller :seeya

Welcome princess!

Stumbled across this lovely little community while trying to revise for my Modernism exam. I'm a third year English Lit student at Lancaster University, about to take my last exams ever. (Modernism on Friday, then American Lit post-1900 on Monday). Right this minute I'm trying to revise Lawrence's Women in Love, Woolf's To The Lighthouse, and Conrad's Lord Jim. Tomorrow I need to move onto some poetry as well.
I look forward to swapping ideas with you all!
Hi all, I'm not sure where I am on the artist scale. I used to call myself a poet, until I finished school and had to write to make meager wages. And you can't put on Craigslist, Poet for Hire. So now I'm sort of a poet.
I do love to write it still and add it to music, film, and other mediums. I cannot do without it--which is probably my only criteria.
Anywho, I'm interested to see how the posts are and to join in the conversations.
Thanks for your time.

Hello I'm from Bulgaria and I'd like to post my own literature now
Hello everyone!
I'm glad to see you:)
Hi! (:
So, I've been surfing this site for quite a while and finally decided to join it. I have just graduated high school and am still not sure how I will spend the upcoming years. However, I'll probably won't study literature or languages and it will remain my love instead of career. But who knows, right? I hope this forum will help me to deepen my interest in classics and I'm also sure about that :) You can never get enough of them!
Nice to meet you all!
