Hi!
I'm Ivy, 20 years old and from London :)
Stumbled across this forum whilst conducting some research for university assignments and thought I might as well join!
I'm doing an English Literature degree and the mass of primary texts I have to read is immense. I usually get through at least three texts a week and then there's all the secondary reading to do on top.
However, I love literature, so love my course! It's a shame that I don't get to squeeze in more 'leisure' reading since most of my time is used up with the reading for my course.
People always ask me who my favourite author is, and what my favourite book is....I honestly can't choose! I love exploring the different literary movements, from the ancient times right up until contemporary literature.
I'm hoping that I can share my knowledge with others, as well as learn from everyone here ^_^
Hello. Literature student. Wasting time. Should be reading. Ah, but I'm a talker anyway.
Hi everyone. I've never been on a forum before, so bear with me. I decided it might be nice to meet some new like-minded people. Since I finished my BA, I have been starved for book discussions and literary theories. I am hoping I will be welcomed and get a fix of the "good stuff." There's nothing like nerding out with a good book.
Looks like this thread hasn't been used in a while, but what the hell, here goes.

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie and to be honest I found this forum while looking for answers to my daughter's questions for her A level coursework. I've read most of the books she's studying but it was a long time ago. In light of this I've re-read a lot of novels I read in my youth as well as 'new' stuff like Kite Runner. It's such a difference to read these books for pleasure rather than analysing every word or nuance.....not very helpful from my daughter's point of view though.
The biographical stuff?......I'm in my 50's, four children ranging from late teens to thirties. I work in Sexual Health supporting those that are involved in sex work and I have a degree in Medieval and Modern History with History of Art. As a preference I like historical fiction but then get really annoyed when they ignore historical facts. I read the Da Vinci Code knowing that it would drive me mental and sure enough it did! As it is his 200th anniversary I am currently reading the works of Dickens and discovering some absolute gems that passed me by previously. I'm quite catholic in my tastes though, I will read practically anything from the classics to the trashiest of blockbusters as a bit of light relief. I'm also quite keen on Pratchett and Gaiman, anything with a bit of intelligence and humour I suppose.
Anyway folks I'm happy to be here - Ellybelly x

Hello, I am Matthew. I am here to get some insight on a short story chapter I just wrote. First time writer, from Canada.
Ok so just to say a big thanks to everyone who has put together the quizzes, they have been immensely useful to my investigation for my new library position at the English academy where I work. I needed to get the pupils into the library and show them the possibilities and facilities like the books on offer plus the use of the computers. we are now using the quizzes for web-quests and to introduce them to reading specially chosen books for the bookworm club, and as this year is the bi-centenary of Mr. Dickens... it´s working a sinch!

New to this forum/forums in general. I figured I would give it a try.
hello everyone, i just joined the community. it looks more interesting than facebook, where everyone seems so self-centered and inane. I hope i dont sound like a snob. Im not one. Since this is the day commonly referred to as Easter, i wish all of you a blesssed Resurrection Day.
Hi everyone, this site looked very interesting and decided to join up! I usually don't join forums, I don't know the reason but forums make me feel a little intimidated but my favourite topic to talk about is books and there aren't many people I know who are into reading.
:D
Hi everyone! I just finished my degree (Master's-English) and am currently looking for a job as a college professor with very little luck (*sigh*-gotta love the economy). Since I'm not in school anymore, and have yet to find a teaching position, I feel the intense need to discuss literature and grade/edit other people's work. So DTerryfied and mattcruise (or any other writers out there), if you need a reader, I'm your gal!
Hi everybody ! How are you doing ?
Hello every one, I just love literature and glad to be here and share our knowledge and ideas.. ;)
Hello Lulita, welcome to the forum
Hi everyone! I'm just about to be a graduate student. Been studying English for the past four years in Scotland and have love, love, looooved it! I'm hoping to go back and do a Masters in a years time but in the meantime taking a year out to.. most likely to read some more. Or find a job, if I have to :P
I love all sorts of literature but I'm a particular fan of the Victorians and the Victorian Gothic, I've just started a blog about it in order to motivate myself to get some writing done! Thats what I'm supposed to be trying to be, a writer...
I have horrible taste in music, I love musicals and pop- the brasher and cheesier the better and I used to have a job in a theatre which suited me. I got to see Evita fourteen times once!
Thats about all without running on... Nice to meet everybody :D
Hello, new people. Welcome! I hope you will all enjoy these forums as much as I have since I joined a little over a year ago. Have fun. Don't take anything too seriously. :D
...Um....Hello....
I am a senior in highschool although I do graduate in May. I am homeschooled. I love to sing and my biggest dream is to become a crime scene investigator. I have a 7 year old brother and I am learning how to play the guitar. We have a TV but we don't get network television, so my parents have bought TV shows from the 80s for us to watch and they are amazing. I love country music and I am obsessed with The Voice. I adore Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Kellie Pickler. My favorite TV shows are The A Team, Air Wolf, The Dukes of Hazzard, Star Trek, The Voice, and all the crime shows (Especially CSI:Las Vegas). Yep..... that's about it. Anything else you wanna know just holler.
Oh yeah.... I am also in LOVE with Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.
Love Always! Keep The Faith!
Is the never ending sorrow always gowing to be a reminder that there is a towmarrow?
Hello everyone!
I am here to learn about creative writing, specifically fiction. I have lots of ideas but trouble sticking to plots and structuring my work. I hope to learn better techniques and hopefully receive constructive criticism on my work.
I am just finishing up my student teaching experience and stumbled across your site.
My name is Penney, and I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I am looking forward to making some friends, sharing ideas, and learning some stuff!

Twist, twist, twist. A spark emerges from the sticks as heat fills the area like an exeplosion. the room filling with light as though the sun had come in a blazeing moment to drownd the dark out of the sky. The life of the now blazeing light is waveing, twisting, thrusting, crashing, crushing. All sorts of movments only the wind able to change its course. This now liveing light grows wilde and viscious attacking all that come close with a chance of death. But this new life like all others have a new preadator. like the mouse infront of a snake that is being charged by an egal. One swoop its gone as the cold stream runs. The light trys to grow and flee from its new enemy but the stream is driveing to fast. CRASH! The light is hit and the stream starts emptying but the light lowers and lowers and lowers tell finaly its nothing but black pouder but small gusts of it flying off of it with a dark color leaveing nothing but the barren wast of what it has caused. the stream had run out after have of gotten its prey it sinks in and makes home....
Hi, I'm Fiona, a Lit student at York University. Nice to meet you all :)!
Hello! Just found Lit. Netw. Forums! I'm about 1K yr old & am reading thru lotsa books I've had for eons. Nice to be here!
Hi, I just joined the network and look forward to exchanging posts about books. Currently, I'm engaged in reading all of Dostoyesky's novels and short stories from a Kindle compendium of all his writing and loving it, as it stands in exotic contrast to my usual engagement with mathematics and computing. Well, that's enough for now, I suppose.
Hello, all-- I'm a veteran journalist, made a living writing for the past half-century. Newspapers, national trade magazines, hundreds of speeches, more than 200 live TV newscasts. Copywriting for some ads, produced a few marketing campaigns.
In recent years I've written two books, a rather fat novel about kids and WW II, which I hope will be shelved (mentally, if not physically) in Southern Humor, and a memoir set in Nassau and Cape Canaveral. Its keywords include John F. Kennedy, the Project Mercury astronauts, Raquel Welch, Jose Feliciano, a nymphomaniac and a hungry nine-foot hammerhead shark.
Both books have been vetted by pro editors. I'm in the process of re-reading and polishing both, for the umpteenth time. Isn't it amazing how you can always improve a piece, no matter how many times you've gone over it?
Hope to self-publish them this summer as POD and ebooks. I'm interested in hearing about experiences of other indie publishers.
Hello, I'm brand new here! So not quite sure what exactly I am doing!
