Cricket singing in bathtub—
Fingers dance rhythm…
Frog quartet joins in—
Down by the old river bend—
Bullfrog singing bass…
Up on the Mountain,
I hear an Eagle calling—
Scream becomes music…
My old guitar tries—
I cannot master music
Mother Nature sends…

pervasive the vice,
manifested envy,
abate and atone.
find your voice somewhere—
show us how you can glisten
lamp to light our path...
not echoes in wind,
haunting whispers misguiding—
lose us in a fog…
in darkness even
a firefly glowing gives hope—
do not hide talent…
on a candlestick,
flambeau held up giving light,
a beacon, poet…
the world needs more light—
who provides illumination—
if we hide our light?

Empty Nest
May has come and gone—
The sand pours through the hourglass,
So very swiftly…
Seems like yesterday,
My son was a little boy—
Graduates this year…
Bounced him on my knee,
Now six foot four, I look up
At the man he is…
I held my girl tight,
Rocked her gently to sleep, my—
Twenty, I am old…
The baby boy grown,
Towers taller than me now—
And he’s just fifteen…
You spend so much time,
In effort as walk and talk—
Then “Sit down, shut up!”
The day comes, they go,
Silence makes awful sounds—
Little feet, now gone…
