Because I would have seeds, I'd like to think of myself as a fruit, particularly since, on the social ladder, fruit is above vegetables. Hierarchically, the potato is a bit of a slob, as is the turnip. (Manglewurzel if you come from the West Country of Britain). I'd hate to think of myself as the intellectual equivalent of a cauliflower, although frankly, a comparison with a banana would worry me as well.
