I watched Oldboy last night. It´s korean I think. It´s about a man who has been looked up for 15 years, without knowing why. When he get´s out he set out for revenge and tries to understand why this happend to him. Telling you more would ruin the movie. They showed this movie in filmfestivals in Sweden , and it´s very good, but also disturbing. Personaly I like that in movies. I think I would call it a thriller/drama.

I watched Fubar last night. Cdn. men (in age only) drink, and they, well, they drink. I think it was a mockumentary. Embarassing for me as a Canadian, however, I watched the whole dang thing, kind of like watching a car wreck.

Det sjunde inseglet , by Ingmar Bergman . I think the English title is The seventh seal.

It´s the one with the classic scene where the knight plays chess with death. The actors voices sounds really strange, almost comic because in old swedish movies evryone talks like they where on the theater stage. But once I got used to it I loved the film. It is a dark, burlesque tale about a knight who gambles with death during the time of pestilence- the black death.

What a great movie that one is. :nod:

I went to see the Amityville Horror earlier, it was pretty good. Also had some decent laughs in it at times - especially the parts with the babysitter.

overall I'd give it an 8/10.

I recently saw "Finding Neverland". I thought it was excellent! A great film you can watch with the whole family--although children under the age of 8 may get bored.

Last night I saw a movie called "El septimo dia" (the seventh day), it was brilliant, it kept the tension to the end really! Rate: 9
It was part of a festival held in these days in my city, it's a festival of love movies but (thankfully?) love wasn't really the main point of this one. I'm absolutely not a big movie-goer but I regret not having bought a ticket for the whole festival (well of course I can go anyway but that would have been cheaper) cos there are a lot of interesting stuff... What I find interesting is that they are movies I wouldnt have the chance to see otherwise, cos they're not blockbuster stuff... and there aren't many from the USA, which is what we end up seeing most.
And they are in original language, how lovely!!! the festival provides headphones with (quite awful) simultaneous translation, but most movies are subtitled in English so I'm fine! The one I saw last night was in Spanish so it was a wonderful double linguistic exercise! We also tried to stay for the next one but it was a bit boring and harder to understand (no subtitles), it was meant to be for the section of the festival dedicated to perverted love and SM... but it didnt keep the promise, at least in the first 20 minutes...just gangsters and confusion, so we left.
There is also a section dedicated to Iranian movies and I hope to see one or two...and the Korean one on Thursday is mine! :)

Wow, so yesterday all in all I watched 2 movies and a half...that makes up for the averagely 350 days a year when I dont watch any movie! :D

Watched "Amityville Horror" yesterday!! HORRIBLE film, I refuse to watch it again! I couldn't sleep at all last night!

Glad you liked it. I haven't seen it, so I can't comment on it, though.

After many recommendations, I finally found the time to watch Kill Bill: Volume 1 last night. Quentin Tarantino, one of my favorite directors, has made something brilliant again, and he never ceases to astound me. I love the satire on classic kung-fu films, and the wandering plot that never seems to stay in one place with all of the time lapses. I found it definitely worth seeing, though I would not call it Tarantino's finest work.
My rating: 9.5/10.

"Patriot" - second time on Tv. anyway i missed again some parts. so-so, not bad.

"In the Mood for Love". It was confusing at the beginning (especially as we didn't have very accurate subtitles and it was in French) but the whole story was great and a bit different than usual dramas. It reminded me of "Lost In Translation". And the music fit very well although the actors are Japanese, they speak French and the song is in Spanish! 8/10 in short :D

I recently watched the movie Bad Education (La mala educacion). it was really good :)

I give it 9/10

Yes, I saw this one a few months ago in the theatres. I made a rating on this thread about it somewhere, and believe I rated it easily 10/10, always loving Gael Garcia Bernal's acting, among others' in the film. Congratulations on seeing it; a few parts can seem quite shocking and very unpredictable, which made gold its twisted plot.

Taking Psyche's recommendation to see a particular movie, we rented Basquiat last night - a film regarding Jean-Michel Basquiat, a painter closely acquianted, but not as famous as, Andy Warhol. It had quite a cast, including David Bowie (as Andy Warhol, and did very surprisingly well), Jeffrey Wright, Michael Wincott, Claire Forlani, Gary Oldman, and Benicio del Toro. I had known very little of Jean-Michel Basquiat in the past, but this film very well outlined his exceedingly intriguing life, art, and the art collaborated with Andy Warhol. The best word to describe the film: brilliant.
My rating: 9/10.

I watched the movie Downfall today. It was exceptionally good!!!!! The acting was superb. I easily give it 9/10

I tried to search Crisaor's post about the House of Flying Dagger after I watch it this morning on DVD, but somehow I didnt manage to. I was expecting something more adventures, intstead the love theme is the main idea of the movie. And I'm kinda tired seeing Zhang Ziyi in this movie, after her last 2 appearances in Croutching Tiger and Hero...and why she always got the part as the girl who got/almost got rape ;) ..??

But I like the movie...Chinese cultures and dresses always fascinate me..

I just rewatched "Blade: Trinity". It's not good.. Personally I'd rather watch the first two forever before ever having to watch this one again. It's got all new characters, poor acting at times, too much reliance on humor when it's pretty dark, and just overall wasn't exactly entertaining. It passes the time and it's hard to turn away from it, but it isn't interesting in the least. It has some okay special effects though..

We watched Hardware (or Mark 13) during our interpretation classes and it was awful. Worse than Terminator. No points.

That's because I didn't post about it. Isagel suggested that one after I gave my opinion on Hero (I believe it's on page 15 on this thread). That being said, I did watch The House of Flying Daggers this week. Just as you, I was expecting a more adventure-oriented movie, but it was fine anyway. The costumes, choreographies, effects, etc. are more than okay, as usual, but unlike Hero, I found the story to be somewhat lacking. The characters are unreliable, I found them very unappealing, and the histeric component imbedded in all of them annoyed me considerably. It was a good way to spend time (for me, anyway), but I got the feeling that it was only because I dig this kind of films. Casual viewers might want to see Hero instead of this one, as it's better and much more enjoyable.

Ms. Psyche and I watched The Life Aquatic, directed by Wes Anderson, the same for, one of my favorite movies, The Royal Tenenbaums. I cannot say I enjoyed this one as much, but I still found it brilliant, especially with Bill Murray and Angelica Houston still in the cast - as always the same dry, hilarious humor. :D

I have just returned from Star Wars Episode 3:Revenge Of The Sith. It was ok, the special effects were amazing; Yoda is still the coolest guy in the world; and there are some decent laughs. However, it still is not a patch on the original films. Overall 7.5/10

Did you notice how at the end of the film it said based on a book? I think it was called the Gusunheit! institute is no laughing matter. I think Ill read that as soon as these pesky exams are finished!!

What the @$@#$# do we know? - Fairly good movie, it started out talking about quantum physics then went into... I can't explain it. I give it 8/10 (it was a little slow in parts).

Lion King 3- Was OK, clever how it used the first film, but you should never carry on a good Disney film, you go too far with a sequel, but should NEVER do a third! 5/10
Ocean's Eleven- Third time I've seen it and LOVE it! 8/10 !

Psyche rented a movie, of which she napped through, that her roommate and I watched called I ♥ Huckabees. What a strange film - twisted and unpredictable, yet insightful. Through each scene I found myself never knowing what to expect, but it had a very interesting, attention-getting plot, though with odd details.
My rating: 7.5/10.

yeah I liked it a bit violent and the ending was a but wierd I mean if he shot himself why is he alive and tyler dead??
Also it leaves questions unanswered which tends to make me :rage: !

Cold Mountain - kudos!!!! to Renee Zellweger. Miss Kidman struck me as insipid and unnecessarily modern (Chanel lipstick and blush on a former belle trying to run a farm in the middle of nowhere?). Jude Law is rather good as a character actor.

really psychologically amazing, and extraordinarily sad on a negative humanity scale (very close to a negative 10). my rating: a 9.5/10

oh yeah, also checked A Lion in Winter out of the library. excellent performances by Kate Hepburn and Peter O'Toole - magnificent, really. they don't make actors like them anymore...

OK, I just saw SW Revenge of the Sith. It is a lot better then number 1 and 2. Number 1 was just a Disney movie and 2, too romantic....Now number 3. I like, not as good as the old once by far, but good. untill the ending!!!!! now I am mad.

Leia is adopted by a senator. WRONG! it's princess Leia not a senators daughter!

Death of A Salesman- Dustin Hoffman.
Dustin Hoffman is my favourite actor so I was bound to love this film anyway! But it was still great! I love they way the set was laid out, it showed that this is a play and is meant to be acted out on stage, and Dustin's character Willy was so cute, and I genuinely felt for him! I love this film!

A fabulous movie in the true sense of the word....yes, a feel good movie, but what is the sin in "feeling good" I ask you. Crowe, Giamatti, Zellweger and the whole cast were terrific.

Oscars abound for this flick.......I do believe this is the best picture so far, this year.
