No not really. Do you mean try to recapture something that was lost?
It could mean that. Or there may just be good qualities that you liked or admired. It's (hypothetically of course) meant to be positive - after all one wouldnt have been with someone for such a long time without some outstanding qualities.
Can you seen how that is reasonable-within good sense of course?
No. Or rather I prefer not to. Eyes toward the future while understanding the past.

(If you found no redeeming qualities in a past long term relationship 7plus years- then that would have been terrible {and I'm not speaking of the current "sin" of nostalgia}- just clarifying.

(the relationships died because I was on the road for months at a time. All ended with a mutual understanding that it wouldn't work. Like Duke Ellington, music is my mistress and has always come first.)

( I don't think it makes sense to try to duplicate(I'm reading between the lines here) what you might have lost, basically chasing a ghost of a past love. Of course there are always going to be qualities that I find attractive in people but not because it reminds me of my ex.We can never recreate a better version of what we once had.Best we can do is create something new with someone different. )
