Hello, my name is Roptat Lenz, pronounced Ropetyat lence, and I have been writing for quite some time. I am a 17 year old International Baccalaureate student, and I love creative outlets such as poetry, writing, and music. I began wriing at age 3, when I learned to read, and I have not stopped since- however, in the intervening years, I have dramatically improved my skills, and I have attained the paid position of staff writer on many websites.
My preferred outlet for literary creativity is the short story, closely followed by the roleplay. My standards for English are very high, and I have been referred to as "The Anglic Nazi," and "Old fuss and feathers." I hope my stay here will be enjoyable, and I hope to contribute in every way possible.
Bonjour, I recently decided to join this forum, after many weeks of viewing the posts. I am in high school and looking at colleges with nursing programs. My favorite pasttime, of course, is reading, especially Dickens, C. S. Lewis, Tolkien, and Chesterton. As I sometimes have difficulty understanding such authors as Dostoyevsky and Hawthorne, I greatly look forward to viewing and participating in the discussions. Au revoir.

Yes, I've finally surrendered to my nerdiness for literature--for who would fardels bear, to grunt and sweat in a primitive scholarly environment, the sustenance of which being mostly tasteless young adult novels, but that the dread of something succeeding apathy, the very much discovered country from whose bourne every pimply traveler returns, frightens the will and makes us rather bear those ills we have than skip to others we know not of? Thus, conscience doth make conformist cowards of us all, and thus the native hue of astounding resolution is sickled o'er with the pale cast of childish and sometimes adult fantasy, and enterprises of great pith and moment with this regard their currents turn awry, and lose the name of reckless action.
TL;DR: I love literature so I decided to join this forum.
I like it

Hi everyone, my name is Aileen Stewart and I am a new children's author. Watch for my book Fern Valley soon to be released by Tate Publishing. You can find me on FB, Authors Den, Twitter, and my own website listed on my profile page.
Hi, I'm a sixth-former at a school in Northern Ireland, doing A-Levels in French, German and Spanish but I want to study Russian at university, so I'm reading a lot of foreign stuff!
Hello, fellow lit nerds!
I am not, as the name implies, french... just your regular ol' high schooler. Love books, music, art, writing, culture. I am a hopeless romantic.
Much love, looking forward to visiting this place often.
Nice to meet all of you! As the name implies, I really enjoy editing other peoples works and enjoy books in general. I hope I can help some people out with their editing problems, and read some interesting literature in the process.
I am a new member to this forum. I am re-reading Anthony Trollope's Barsetshire novels. In The Small House At Allington (1864) he is writing about people dining together. He says that the diners could not speak freely until the "the door was tiled, and the servants were gone." Does anybody out there know the meaning of the phrase "the door was tiled"?
Hi
I fancy myself a Proust.
Hello
Hi, I'm in high school. I love to write, read, draw, and act. I usually write what I call fragments or short stories that are between 100-1500 words. Someday I want to write a full book but I haven't gotten around to it. I'm a very bad procrastinator and I get distracted by things way to easily. If I start on a fragment I don't work on anything else until it is finished. I'm always behind in school but hopefully that will change. I have a theater group that I act with and I love very much. My family and friends mean a lot to me. I also like a lot of random things like butterflies, pennies, socks, hats, note books, pencils, curly hair, smiling people, hugs, my nose, paper, and carrots. That's me. :seeya:
Hello everyone. My name is shameek. AM an educator by profession. I am actually doing a research on the title of the novel "great expectations." Can sm1 give me a link whereby i can gt some information about the tile?? thanks:)
Hi everyone, I'm new today, and found this site on google while looking for a short story that I read while taking my credential classes back in the 70's. The name of the story is "Smilin Dan". It was in a school reading enrichment book published by SRA, (Science Research Associates) now run by Mc Graw Hill. It was about a sheriff who has to kill his son, to protect the jail house from a town lynching. Great story. The kids and I wrote words to a ballad that I composed for them, and we sung it in class, bit I never made a copy of the sing. I've always been a miss for that. Please help me find the story, or the reading book with the story collection that includes this one. Thanks.
Jim
Hi.
I stepped into this forum a few days ago and am itching for discussing litterature with people who will endure me doing it. Internet is a wonderful place for nerds, is it not? Hope to have a good time together with you all!
I am new to LNF. Very new, actually. :D This is my first post. I am Midnight Pete.
Greetings, all. I am new.

All hail Aula.
Hello to all!
It's been too long since I read something truly engrossing! I like historical novels (Colleen Mccullough's "Masters of Rome" series) but have been smitten with fantasy since first reading LOTR when I was very young. My absolute favorite authors are Weis and Hickman, I love all of their books (although I was somewhat disappointed with the ending of "The Death Gate Cycle"), I thoroughly enjoyed the first several "Wheel of Time" books, but the series started to get weighed down with characters and political intrigue; I stopped ready after the 10th book and vowed not to continue until the series ended; I'm hoping that Brandon Sanderson will do justice to end the series. Oh, and of course, "Harry Potter", which I considered very enjoyable light reading. I've read many others, but those are my favorites. Is there anyone who has similar tastes that can recommend similar fantasy author's? Greatly appreciate it. Hope you all have an extraordinary day!
*waves*
been having a little look around the forum, but since i have a very poor sense of direction i'd best start dropping breadcrumbs... *scans the skies for hungry birds*
hope to read you guys around the forums :)

Hi all. I'm 25, studying English in Copenhagen. Might as well be honest, I joined this forum because I just got out of a relationship and right now, all I want to do is submerge myself in my studies and books books books, only interrupted by lectures and trips to the pub. Any reading recommendation for a slightly disillusioned young female, bring it on.
Hello everyone. Mi llamo is Stacy-- no, I"m not Spanish really, just the alternative sounded boring and severely overused. I enjoy reading the latest novels usually along the lines of Dean Koontz, however I just recently read all 7 novels of Harry Potter and feel I need to now bump it up a notch. Love the idea of posting and sharing thoughts and ideas on literature and poetry. I would appreciate any suggestions of great stuff you have read recently!
Hi, all! Just stumbled across this site while helping my daughter with her 'Othello' paper. Literature is one of my three favorite things in life. Hope to have some great discussions and meet like minded folks.
My favorite genre is fantasy aka LOTR, but I read all sorts of books. Just finished reading Catcher in the Rye for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to read but captured the universal angst of the modern teen.
To- Robinhood3000: Shiny signature! Keep Serenity flying! Browncoats forever!!!
Hi, noticed that you have some of the same tastes in fantasy books as me. I read some of the Wheel of Time books, but they did seem a little bogged down to me as well. The Amber Chronicles by Roger Zelazny are a very good 'light read'. Don't have to think too hard but they are loads of fun. If you want something heavier, have you ever tried The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson? They are not for everyone, but I personally love them. Unlike most popular fiction, Donaldson writes on a college level. His characters and plots are very real and intense. It might take a while to get into them, but they are almost on par with LOTR in my opinion. Hope this helps. Good reading.
Hello all! I am studying both English and history at Texas Woman's University, and I hope to study Welsh folklore and literature in the future.
Hey there!
I'm a "new author trying to get his stuff read anywhere he can" guy and when I saw this community, I thought that it would be a nice place to at least have some fun and, besides putting my own stuff, read some good stories from my fellow writers.
Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forums. I am excited to join the community and to be able to share my enthusiasm for literature with others. I look forward to giving and getting recommendations for good reading material, ideas about books, and tips on writing!
Hi,
The name I use is a combination of my first and last name (first three letters of each). I'm 17 and currently a senior in high school. My hobbies include theater (acting), writing, music (bass guitar, flute, percussion, and a little piano), gaming, and visual arts (favorite mediums=charcoal and printmaking). At the moment I'm planning on pursuing a degree in either art education, theater, or graphic design. I love literature (obviously), and am often found sitting in Borders for hours.
This really isn't an introduction I was actually writing something on something else I saw and just copied and pasted this here. Well I am happy to join this network. I hope my visits will be enriching and will help me to develop a greater love for literature and all it has to offer. I haven't really read a book in a long because school work takes up so much time but if there is anything that you would like to suggest I am open to suggestions. The seasons come and go like today's trends they are here today gone next week. Funny isn't it, what they call a passing cloud. It is literall a cloud passing over head like all others but this one decides to bring rain with him. I truly love descriptions about nature and trees and fauna and flora so I guess this includes 'The Seasons'. All in all hi, how's it going, How's the weather or season ha ha ha. I may have enter the wrong place so please forgive me if this has nothing to do with the subject.
Hi everyone
