Thanks Niamh. I am having concerns about it though, because I found out that the tile it is based on is the intellectual property of the person who crafted it. I suppose I better change it, else I croak from the guilt. :(

:) Kathy,These tiles are gorgeous - wow $50 each - a bit steep. I wonder... is not all or most of the things we post in avatars copyrighted? Just hope she does not join Lit Net. It is good advertising for her/him anyway. Oh, well...I hate to see it go...it is so pretty to look at...sad:(
Kathy, more than likely the person/artist designing the tiles took the designs from a copyright - free book. I have several on Art Deco. Artists all steal to some extend. Well, if you do change it I know you will find a nifty new one. You have had several I admired. If you want something like this I can look into my book and see if I can find you a nice photo....just scan a design. Those are copyright free. I actually have two books, I think, of Deco designs. Lots of greens, too - that was a popular color. I used to deal in antiques. I should use one of my antique plates as an avatar. I had thought of that awhile back.
Thank you, Janine. That is very nice of you. Yes, if you come across something floral that would be lovely.
Quite some time ago, I had made an avatar by cropping this picture. You probably recognize it, she is Juliet as painted by my favorite artist, J.W. Waterhouse (in case anybody isn't familiar with the painting)

I was thinking about going back to Juliet for a bit, but can never make my mind up. :D
The new sig is a fragment of a song by one of my favourite bands (James), the song is Top Of The World
Back to Old Faithful!
Recognize anybody? :) ;)
A little bit of Gertrude Stein for all of you.
Changed my Avy, want to celbrate autum even if we are technically about to enter spring already ( saw some bulbs sprouting yesterday and they looked to big to be snowdrops):D
Your Avy's lovely, Night . Now I'll always imagine you as some kind of fairy :D.
:D:brow: :p
:D:D
The Sword in the stone, which, BTW, was NOT Excaliber, artists pictures notwithstanding. Arthur received Excalibur from The Lady of the Lake, and returned it to her after the final battle. :)
It's a gilbert
I changed my avatar --- it's a part of a painting of the lady of shalott.
Notice the spelling of shalott. It has two t's -- not one. I misspelled it when I set up my account originally.
Now, I am very embarrased about this, especially since this was my favorite poem from the time that I was a student and actually enrolled in literature classes. So you see, I should know how to spell Shalott. My username is Shalot instead of Shalott and that irritates me. Maybe I should set up a new account. I don't know.
Anyway, I've come up with an excuse for why I mispelled Shalott. It's because I'm from the U.S.A. Now, you can take that however you want, but it's a known fact that here in a America, we sometimes alter words and their spellings.
Take the word light for example. If you order a low-fat sandwich, the spelling on the menu might say lite. All that means is that the sandwich is low in fat and carbs and calories, and a clever way to convey that meaning is to reduce the number of letters in the word light. The word has fewer letters and the consumer is getting fewer calores.
In the same way, we add letters to a word. Take also the word old. If you own a bookstore, a clever name for the bookstore might be Ye Olde Bookstore. Olde looks like a word from Old English, and if you're buying a book from the Ye Olde Bookstore, as opposed The Old Bookstore, you think you're getting something special. But if you go shopping at the old bookstore, you're getting used books that smell like someone's old cigarettes.
So there you have it --- there's my new avatar and my new excuse.
Thanks so much.
I am actually not sure who the artist of my Avatar is....
I found it on my friends computer when I set up my account..
As for my sig.. That is my favorite poem from Dowson. I found it while reading my favorite play, Long Days Journey into Night...
I lucked on to this avatar when I was blindly typing stuff into a search engine ( I was very bored) But I love it! And I also like the idea that when you all read my posts you're imagining that I look like Cate Blanchet ;)
A "Singer of Sonnets" would be a Minstrel, even in Avalon, no?
Heeyyy.... This is okay. I liked the dragon and the inkbottle one. That was cool...
Should I even change my avi?
[QUOTE=Adudaewen;331127BTW, your avatar is one of my favorites. I LOVE wolves, and yours is so mystical and mysterious.[/QUOTE]
Thanks. Many have commented on my avatar. I like it too. For all the time I've been here, I've never changed it.
When something works, stick with it, right? ;)
Ok, some people are possibly wondering (well yeah maybe not) what the "a very able boy" on my profile refers to. I recently found all my report cards from Primary 1 (grade 1 onwards), that is what was on my P3 report card teacher comments - complete nonsense but amusing to me, I may at some point make a blog entry with some of the more nonsense statements contained on them.
Personally, I like my avatar. She's the prettiest doll in my collection, so why not honor her here? I wish I looked as good!
Can anyone tell me who she is?:D
Yeah I agree with you on this. I also think that Virgil's avy is mystical and mysterious, and I am used to see it there when Virgil posts and I really think it goes with you Virgil, so.... smart, intelligent and... a real gentleman.Quote:

I have changed my avatar once again. My coworker sent me an email that had all these pictures of women from the 1950s with clever little sayings next to the picture. The caption for this particular lady was "Amazingly enough I don't give a s**t" and I thought her facial expression matched the caption very well.
Today I got the email with the mullet pictures and I was thinking of changing my avatar to one of those guys but the images were kind of bad (poor quality and all) so I just didn't.
I'm taking this new one out for a test drive, spring training has started.
It is a winner, Papayahed! :D
Thanks Scher and Virgie, It's taking sometime to get used to it seems weird not to see that yellow background...
I am back with Jasmine :D
Hey papayahed I really like the new avy you have...really nice... :)
I've changed my avy again... I think I've changed it too many times lately, and now I have the one I used to have before, I just like this one very much... :)
My wife's nickname is "Mouse", she holds the "Pen", that's me. In the signature is four lines of original verse about the Lady of the Lake..
how do you like my new sig?
err, those punctuation marks are supposed to be a snake
my best friend's nickname is Mouse, too. i didn't know you were married to her...;) well she always keeps those things secret... ;) *joking*Quote:
