4/5 I love this movie. I don't know why. will somebody tell me what it is about a 17 year old morbid boy and an eccentric 80 yr old woman who share a love affair??? It just warms me to mah toes.....Seriously though, I love the way the story is structured throughout and the time it is set in of course and Cat Stevens sits well with me.

Delta, I love this movie, too. I even invested in a copy recently. I think I could watch it over and over again. Crazy story, but somehow it works extraordinary well. It 'warms me to mah toes', too. I love the soundtrack music by Cat Stevens; fits in perfectly to the time, to the mood of the film. This film has both tender and hilarious moments; one minute you are laughing and then you feel dead serious. I recall that I had not realised on first viewing that she had a Nazi tatoo number on her arm; thus being a survivor. The acting was great, too. Ruth Gorden was amazing. She has such an inner beauty, doen't she. She is ageless in this film. This movie has become a cult classic; I am glad of that. It is truly wonderful!Quote:

The movie was based on a true story, and what a gripping story it is.
The acting was very good, on all sides.
I thought that those in charge of makeup/wardrobe, etc., did a stellar job of capturing the late 20's and into the 1930's. Angelina's hair was awesome.
I'd recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it.
Yep, Cassavetes. I've only just discovered him as a director and he lives up to his rep. Shadows is good and Faces is as brilliant as A Woman Under the Influence. Have you seen anything else by him?Quote:

Regarding soderberg..i remember liking "traffic"..the film about kafka was atmospheric but i didn't like it much..i really didn't like the ocean's 11, 12 and 13 (really not my cup of tea)..erin brockowits was nice..

Milk 8/10. Very interesting subject matter.
Kabluey 7.5 out of 10... interesting look into Suburbia and loneliness, amongst other things.
Also, just saw Rocknrolla... I would rate it as an 8 or so. Definitely no SNATCH, but I love Guy Ritchie all the same. There were not that many great lines in this one, but there was some depth to it. The Johnny Quid character was terrific!

my favorite movie is "Room with a View". The actors (Helena Bonham-Carter, Julian Sands, Maggie Smith, Judy Dench and Daniel Day Lewis.
It is delightfully comic and it plays in Florence and the English countryside.
Hi kathy, I see you are new here so welcome to the forum! I also love this film emensely. I love the book as well; the book actually makes me laugh out loud. It is about time for me to see the movie again. I watch it from time to time since I happen to own a copy. All the actors are suberb. You left one out - the young brother played by Rupert Graves. He also played a soldier in "Fortunes of War" - the BBC miniseries and I believe he was in another of novel adaptation - "Maurice". He is awfully cute and had been in a number of really good productions and films. Anyway, you worded that last line accurately - "delightfully comic". I fully agree. I love the part when the men go bathing in the wooded pond. I could not stop laughing.:lol:Quote:

Ok, went to the cinema on sunday after work with my friend and there wasnt much to choose from so went to see kidies fantasy movie The Secret of Moonacre. I love kids movies so i really enjoyed this! was very funny. 8/10
Yesterday before work, i watched Disneys Beauty and the Beast. I havent seen it in years and it is still as great as i remembered it to be. (Little mermaid was a sad disapointment after seeing it for the first time in something like 13 or 15 years.) 9/10

The Curios Case of Benjamin Button (David Fincher).
I'm always a fan of Fincher's works yet have not read the book version of this story. So I don't really know how far his imagination went when bringing the story to the screen. But I found the movie enjoyable and quite entertaining.
