Rock and Roll, baby, Rock and Roll
<<<Yay, Amuse, you got it. It’s Jimi as the Alien in the last line his song “Third Stone from the Sun.” Jimi’s always been a hero to me.
Oh Strange beautiful grass of green
With your majestic silken scenes
Your mysterious mountains
I wish to see closer
May I land my kinky machine
Although your world wonders me
With your majestic superior cackling hen
Your people I do not understand
So to you I wish to put an end
And you’ll never hear surf music again
The line is apparently in reference to a guitar player who influenced a younger Jimi: the King of the surf guitar, Dick Dale. Arguably Dick’s most famous tune is “Miserlou” which Quentin Tarentino used as a kick-in-the-head opening to “Pulp Fiction.” When Jimi wrote “Third Stone from the Sun,” Dick had just been diagnosed with cancer and Jimi was paying his respects. Ironically, Dick beat cancer but Jimi didn’t survive the sixties.>>>
