"Her zither pierces clouds with tones divine,"."The Zither of the Xiang River Spirits"
- Poetry of Qian Qi
https://www.cn-poetry.com/qianqi-poe...r-spirits.html
Hmmm... rhyming translations don't usually grate on me - this one did. I'm sure it's a masterpiece in the original language as it "established" the poet's reputation.
"Retired thoughts enjoy their own delights," - Robert Southwell; Look Home... https://discoverpoetry.com/poems/deer-poems/
Page fidgety again, back tomorrow with the poem.
I agree with you, the translation sounds forced. I didn't find a better one, but here is an analysis of the poem:
https://poems.mahacinasthana.com/en/...ng-ling-gu-se/
Found Southey's poem here. Enjoyed specially the verb sequence in the last line:"He should, he could, he would, he did, the best."

An escape from repression by a gunsmith... Enjoyed. Also enjoyed your poetic license in finding a 'w' poem (though we skipped a bit) :)
Poem with an 'x' in its title:
"It is night; and I am alone, forlorn" - James Macpherson; Fragment X... https://www.poemine.com/James-Macphe...ragment-X.html
Sorry for the mistake. It actually reads "I was...". But ok. Let's go on with "x".
Beautiful tragic poem!

"Now's the time when children's noses" - Katherine Mansfield; Autumn Song... https://allpoetry.com/Autumn-Song

A cute moon poem.
A poem with the title beginning with "Q".
"An old-fashioned word, coined in a bygone "."Queenhood" by Simon Armitage.
https://jamarattigan.com/2022/09/09/...imon-armitage/
Marvelous poem of homage to Q E II. I've seen most, if not all, of a dramatization of her life and was, unfortunately, distracted by her consort who played Doctor Who prior to this role... so much for typecasting. My Mother adored Q E II - her regent. Enjoyed.
"Rocks, trees and rocks; and down a mossy stone" - Madison Cawein; The Feud... https://www.public-domain-poetry.com...ein/feud-11803
I liked Elisabeth II. Possibly one of the last great monarchs.
Enjoyed the poem, the whole story is told by the reactions of the environment. The link didn't work but found the poem here:https://www.poeticous.com/madison-ca...tone?locale=en
"Shifting brilliancies. Then winter light"."From Lightenings" by Seamus Heaney
https://www.poeticous.com/seamus-hea...om-lightenings
Lol, my link worked for me but poeticous was paywalled both times... oh, well.
Found your poem here: https://www.ibiblio.org/ipa/poems/he...ightenings.php though it seems to be missing a number of stanzas. Enjoyed the surreal bits I read :)
"'Twas a year ago and the moon was bright" - Robert William Service; Premonition... https://www.poemine.com/Robert-Willi...emonition.html
No Poeticous any more. It seems to have different rules fot different countries. All versions on line seem to be missing stanzas. The most complete I found: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poe...gs-lightenings.
Oh my! The poem is good but the story is chilling.
back later with the "U" poem
A bit better :)
Yes I was surprised too with the ending.

Poem by a poet with an 'x' in their name:

"You may forget but"."You may forget but" by Sappho
https://www.poemine.com/Sappho/You-may-forget-but.html
This regional randomness is weird... both links work for me though :)
Poet and oracle. Enjoyed :) In the same vein I'm hopeful, some day, that more of Sappho's poetry will be found and brought into the light.
