Oh! That´s annoying!
The fridge
I have a fridge
That keeps my dishes.
When power fails
I am ditched!
Can relate: Those homes which survived nearest our latest fire returned home with all their food spoiled to the tune of hundreds of dollars due to the power in their area being interrupted. We left our electricity on for the few days we evacuated and were fine... except for my sister-in-law who lost some food because she voluntarily turned off her power. The local food lockers have stepped up to help the disadvantaged.
Overall I need to give my home state credit... they blustered and harangued each and every citizen and business to pinch each and every femto-watt during our hot summer months and held their own. The only outages (many) were due to equipment failure and/or downed limbs and repairs by our energy provider :)

You had double luck. I don´t know if it isn´t dangerous to keep power on in this circunstances. Hopefully there will be enough electricity in winter.
