My Poems
wash away
rain can’t wash away our apathy
newspapers bleed multi-colored ink
plastic bags take flight
coffee-stained Styrofoam cups tumble by
tin-cans weep rusty teardrops
ten-cent bottle-returns lay unredeemed
refuse scars our land
garbage damns our streams
trash curses our seas
debris-islands terrorize our oceans
snow doesn’t hide our wounds for long
floods can’t cleanse our rivers
hurricanes rage but fail too
nothing can wash away our sin
what will become of our paradise?
-
Amen to that.
Great imagery.

"snow doesn’t hide our wounds for long
floods can’t cleanse our rivers
hurricanes rage but fail too"
Hurricanes rage but fail to, wow. It is hard to see the abuse from man to nature and what will make of our paradise. I agree with kit-paws powerful imagery and words.

"Rusty teardrops" is an extraordinary image. Nicely done.

Thanks All for your encouragement. Jack

Hi Jack. I enjoyed the opening particularly and the imagery, lost enthusiasm a bit when it became more obvious that there was a cause. The mess we are in didn’t need accentuating more than your imagery.
Cheers

At least the opening piqued your interest.
