"O Sun, to tell thee how I hate thy beams" - Milton's Satan
Am I the only person on this earth who despises sunny days? I once had a doctor tell me I'm allergic to the sun. I am genuinely gladdened by an overcast sky. June, July and August are the months I enjoy least. Every person I know welcomes the arrival of Summer with jubilation. A "nice" day means a sunny day. My attitude seems very strange and I sometimes wonder if I might just be the only one.
"Busy old fool, unruly Sun,
Why dost thou thus,
Through windows, and through curtains call on us?
Must to thy motions lovers' seasons run?
Saucy pedantic wretch, go chide
Late school-boys, and sour 'prentices,
Go tell court-huntsmen that the King will ride,
Call county ants to harvest offices;
Love, all alike, no season knows, nor clime,
Nor hours, days, months, which are the rags of time."
