I guess not. There are many books that create an atmosphere of despair rather then satisfy and therefore leads to disapointment.
This is the interesting topic cacain, and in fact you always raise interesting topics and I find it a thrill to join you in the discuss some nuanced ideas. Of course we immensely feel despaired rather than delighted and when I read some books. For example when I read Ulysses I always wanted to put down. Yet the thrill that I am was reading a great classic was there and I persisted reading despairingly

Ulysses if I recall I found emotionally detached because of its ideology.
