"The melancholy death of oyster boy and other tales"

I was wondering if has anyone read this Tim Burton's(!) 'children poetry' book.What do you think of it?

My son bought it today for my daughter for Christmas, and he was reading the odd poem. Hilarious.

I found an online version... At first I was amused, and the illustrations are really nice (if they are from the book), but then I read The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and it disturbed me. I'm not easily spooked, and I love Burton's films, but this just isn't right :eek2:. It would be a bit easier to take the poem metaphorically and read some stuff into it, but I'm afraid Burton wasn't being very philosophical when he wrote it. The Boy With Nails in His Eyes is no better. Hope I can make it through to the end without hiding under the bed :)

this little book is the prettiest I own.. and it smells the best ... realy I never had a book that smelled better.. dunno what it is .. perhaps the paper or something
but I also love the stories... some of them I still don't understand but I hope I will until I die :redface:
it's just that I can identify with those weird kids... and the way burton writes is funny and melanchonic the same time and this gives those stories a sertan cruelty... I mean when I read about stick boy and match girl or poor oysterboy (and of course stain boy... who could forget him) I feel a faint cool pain in my brest... right in the middle .. a little as if there was an open wound and I was constantly bleeding... I know this doesn't sound nice but these poems are so beatiful that it hurts..

I'm sure you already know it, but just in case you don't check for "vincent" it's an other poem that has already bin turned into a film with the voice of vincent prize... (but those who know his poems often know vincent as well so.. just in case)
