I am new here but I think I can help you in your pursuit of memoirs introducing philosophy. The late Bryan Magee wrote an autobiography called Confessions of a Philosopher. It's an account of his philosophical education. When I read it I painlessly learnt a lot about philosophy - especially Schopenhauer - whilst being entertained by Magee's own discoveries. He's good at communicating complex ideas and he presented philosophy programmes on the BBC, which I watched, though I was only about 9 years old at the time. I don't think I learnt anything; but I went on to study scholastic philosophy myself ten years later.
