Besides still having a minor/double-major in English literature and creative writing, I have multiple reasons. I love applied science, especially biology and organic chemistry, and I have always wanted to help the less fortunately healthy with that passion; I considered a paramedic - no, too hectic being trapped in an ambulance; I considered a doctor - no, the hours seemed odd, and they never get as much patient contact; then, a nurse, yes!
I found myself strictly as a literature/creative writing major early in college, and probably would have continued, had I not gained acceptance from my nursing program. Besides that luck, however, I enjoy contributing to the health of communities, big or small, and have received good, inspirational experiences with other nurses - such as, when being born, my mother's labor proceeded so quickly that the doctor could not arrive in time, and only the nurse helped. :)
