Men, you'll have to create your own!
As usual, Wentworth is missing!
As is Gabriel Oak. I would just like to point out, that unwittingly perhaps, the poster has lmited her selection to only white, Anglo-Saxon, protestants (unless we consider the English creations in other countries to be foreign, so that Shakespeare's Romeo is perhaps really from Verona).
May I ask what these gents are battling? Are they coming to blows with each other and we are choosing which would win in test of fists? (I do hope it's this one). Or are we choosing which one is the dreamy-ist?
I can't pick just one. I like darcy, Rochester, Rhett Butler, etc. Impossible poll.
Bethy
Ok. I picked one. I like Darcy best but only in the movie so i decided that doesn't really count. Same with Butler. I love the character of rochester. I don't think anyone has made a good enough movie for him so his is truely the book character i like best. if you can understand that mess of a sentence.
Since when is Atticus Finch a Romantic hero?
And yes, Wentworth is missing yet again. Of the ones listed, I guess I'd have to go for Darcy or Carton.
Aow. Darcy, ugh. I definately find other better than him.
I chose Rhett Butler, however, if I had looked better and seen Sydney Carton, I would have chose him....He is my favorite.
And Since when was Atticus Finch a romantic hero? That is very strange indeed. Really, when I thought of Romantic Hero, I imagined Natty Bumpo...haha love me some American Romanticism
Oh my...do I really have to choose? I can't decide between Darcy, Sydney Carton and Atticus Finch. Well, actually I think I can knock Atticus off the list, he's a bit old for me. But how can I choose between those other two??? It's just not possible!
heathcliff, a romantic hero?
there's a joke here somewhere
Hey, I am a male so I would like to skip this; but where are Levin, Prince Andrey and Bazarov?
Hence the 'random other men' part. Atticus made his way on there because creepily he won some SparkNotes poll on most fanciable male b
And I would have thought that Heathcliff was a heathen...though I get what you mean. I haven't read any decidedly non-waspish ones- perhaps you could suggest some and we do poll number 2?
I have an idea for another poll that I think I mentioned to Dori... to put up the most twisted characters, or the most mentally unstable, and see who wins that one... So a poll on the most appealing anti-hero, or which character you would most like to spend the day with?
some possibilities are:
Humbert Humbert (Lolita)
Raskoljnikov
Tyler Durden
Alex (A Clockwork Orange)
Chichikov (Dead Souls)
any other suggestions? I think we should come up with a good list, and then post a thread :D
I don't think that Heathcliff is anywhere near the romantic hero, but he always gets my vote in anything, so...
hmmm.. so is this "Who's the dreamiest?" or who could win in a fight?
actually either way my vote goes to Rhett.
